Young Africa International Seeks Strategic Plan Facilitator for 2027–2030 | Remote 10-Week Consultancy Opportunity

Young Africa International is inviting applications from experienced strategic planning facilitators or facilitation teams to lead the development of its Strategic Plan 2027–2030. This remote consultancy opportunity provides a chance for an experienced professional to support a pan-African organisation in shaping its future direction through an inclusive, youth-centred planning process.

The assignment will run for 10 weeks from August to October 2027 and will be delivered entirely online across Young Africa International’s federation network.

Remote Strategic Planning Consultancy Opportunity

The selected Strategic Plan Facilitator will work closely with the Young Africa International Managing Board, Federation Directors, organisational teams, and young people across Africa to design and facilitate a collaborative strategic planning process.

The consultant will help develop a strategy that reflects the organisation’s mission of empowering young people through vocational education, entrepreneurship, and skills development.

This consultancy is designed for professionals with strong experience in nonprofit strategy development, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and youth participation.

About Young Africa International

Young Africa International is a pan-African nonprofit organisation focused on creating opportunities for young people through practical skills development, vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and employment pathways.

Through its federation of national member organisations and accredited vocational training centres, Young Africa works with young people, particularly those from underserved communities, to help them gain the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to build sustainable livelihoods.

The organisation provides strategic coordination and support to programmes across multiple African countries while promoting youth empowerment and inclusive development.

Purpose of the Consultancy

The Strategic Plan Facilitator will guide the organisation through a structured and participatory planning process to create the Young Africa Strategic Plan 2027–2030.

A key focus of the assignment will be ensuring meaningful participation from young people throughout the process under the principle:

“Nothing about us without us.”

The facilitator will support consultations, strategy discussions, validation workshops, and final documentation to ensure the new strategic plan represents the voices and experiences of the communities Young Africa serves.

Key Responsibilities

The successful consultant will be responsible for:

  • Designing a comprehensive strategic planning process and facilitation approach.
  • Supporting reflection and learning from the previous strategic cycle.
  • Facilitating discussions to establish a shared organisational vision.
  • Identifying strategic priorities, outcomes, and measurable goals.
  • Engaging stakeholders across Young Africa’s federation.
  • Facilitating youth consultation processes.
  • Supporting strategy development and implementation planning.
  • Delivering a final publication-ready Strategic Plan 2027–2030.

The selected facilitator or team will provide several key outputs, including:

  • Facilitation design and sprint plan.
  • Strategic Listening Report.
  • Youth Consultation Synthesis Report.
  • Multi-day strategy session facilitation.
  • Strategy Sessions Report.
  • Draft Strategic Plan 2027–2030.
  • Youth Validation Report.
  • Stakeholder feedback and validation report.
  • Final approved Strategic Plan document.
  • Advisory note on strategy launch and implementation.

Who Should Apply?

Young Africa International is seeking consultants with strong expertise in strategic planning and organisational development.

Ideal candidates should have:

  • Extensive experience facilitating strategic planning processes for NGOs or international development organisations.
  • Proven ability to complete strategic assignments within tight deadlines.
  • Experience designing inclusive youth consultation approaches.
  • Understanding of African development contexts.
  • Knowledge of youth development, vocational education, entrepreneurship, or social enterprise.
  • Excellent strategy writing and reporting abilities.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to create inclusive and engaging discussions.
  • Excellent analytical and listening skills.
  • Creativity and adaptability.
  • Commitment to equity, dignity, and youth empowerment.
  • Fluency in English, with Portuguese considered an advantage.

  • Technical proposal (maximum three pages) outlining:
    • Strategic planning methodology.
    • Week-by-week implementation plan.

    • Team composition.
  • Financial proposal (maximum one page).
  • CV or capability statement for each team member.
  • At least two professional references from similar strategic planning assignments.
