Youth Climate Council Global Alliance (YCCGA) is Seeking a Communications Coordinator – Apply Before 13 February 2026

The Youth Climate Council Global Alliance (YCCGA) is a global network of youth advisory bodies working alongside public institutions and youth climate movements to institutionalize youth participation in local and regional climate policymaking. YCCGA’s work focuses on replicating Youth Climate Councils worldwide, strengthening collaboration among existing councils, and advancing cross-regional policy advocacy to promote youth-led climate solutions.

Beyond its global influence, YCCGA prioritizes regional collaboration and inclusive engagement. The introduction of regional coordination roles has strengthened accessibility and participation, enabling members of Youth Climate Councils to engage with the Alliance in their native languages. Through collective action, YCCGA aims to address global climate challenges while amplifying youth voices in governance and decision-making spaces.

Role Overview

YCCGA is seeking a Communications Coordinator to provide day-to-day communications support to the global coordination team. This role is central to implementing and maintaining YCCGA’s communications strategy, managing digital platforms, producing compelling content, and ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.

The Communications Coordinator will also support network-wide communications, events, partnerships, and advocacy efforts, while contributing to tools and resources that strengthen the communication capacity of Youth Climate Councils globally.

Terms of Reference

  • Position: Communications Coordinator
  • Duration: One year (renewable)
  • Location: Remote
  • Reports to: YCCGA Global Coordinator
  • Start Date: March 2026
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Salary: USD 400–500 per month, based on experience

Objectives of the Role

The Communications Coordinator will support YCCGA in achieving the following objectives:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan aligned with YCCGA’s 2026 strategic goals
  • Coordinate YCCGA’s communication pillars, including showcasing Youth Climate Council successes and translating climate policy processes into youth-friendly messaging
  • Increase YCCGA’s brand visibility and reputation by 75 percent across digital platforms
  • Strengthen national Youth Climate Councils’ capacity to communicate impact stories
  • Facilitate advocacy and policy engagement through strategic communications
  • Increase public reach, visibility, and online engagement by at least 80 percent

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications Management

  • Develop and execute YCCGA’s annual communications strategy
  • Create and maintain brand guidelines to ensure consistency across platforms
  • Coordinate communications for major events, conferences, and policy engagements

Digital Communications and Social Media

  • Manage and optimize YCCGA’s website, social media platforms, and newsletters
  • Lead the production of digital content including articles, videos, infographics, and podcasts
  • Design and implement social media strategies to grow engagement and followers
  • Monitor analytics and produce regular performance reports
  • Manage online community engagement and respond to inquiries

Content Development and Storytelling

  • Develop and maintain knowledge and advocacy materials
  • Write, edit, and review high-quality content for diverse audiences
  • Produce compelling narratives and impact stories highlighting YCCGA and member achievements
  • Coordinate content calendars and ensure consistent publication schedules
  • Collaborate with Youth Climate Councils to amplify local and regional stories

Network Communications Support

  • Facilitate communication and knowledge-sharing across the YCCGA network
  • Support Youth Climate Councils through communications capacity-building initiatives
  • Develop communication toolkits, templates, and resources
  • Coordinate joint campaigns and virtual network meetings

Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support communications for partnerships, donor engagement, and collaborative initiatives
  • Develop branded reports and communication materials for external stakeholders

Event Communications

  • Lead communications planning for campaigns, conferences, and events
  • Coordinate live event coverage across digital platforms
  • Produce post-event reports and impact documentation

Required Qualifications and Competencies

YCCGA is seeking candidates with the following profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
  • Master’s degree is an advantage but not mandatory with relevant experience
  • Minimum of three years of professional communications experience
  • Proven expertise in digital marketing, social media management, and visual content creation
  • Strong proficiency in Canva and other graphic design tools
  • Experience in digital advocacy campaigns and multimedia production
  • Understanding of climate policy, UN climate processes, or youth development issues is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced, and multicultural environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and collaborative mindset
  • Demonstrated passion for climate action and youth empowerment
