The consultant will support the development of the Push Forward Strategy Paper under the “Reimagining Gender Equality Across Generations and Communities” project, helping create a future-focused narrative that strengthens public engagement, advocacy, and collective action.

Consultant Role: Developing Strategic Narratives for Gender Equality

The National Consultant will play a key role in shaping the narrative direction of the Push Forward Strategy Paper. The consultant will review evidence collected through workshops, consultations, youth engagement activities, and community discussions to identify important themes and opportunities for advocacy.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing project research, consultation findings, and knowledge products.
  • Identifying shared values, experiences, and aspirations among different communities.
  • Creating a Strategic Narrative Framework that supports gender equality advocacy.
  • Developing messaging approaches based on hope, solidarity, and collective responsibility.
  • Supporting communication strategies that engage young people, civil society groups, and wider communities.

The consultant will ensure that complex research findings are transformed into accessible and inspiring messages that can support social change.

Build Hope-Based Approaches for Gender Equality Advocacy

A major focus of this consultancy is developing narratives that move beyond division and resistance toward collaboration and shared solutions.

The consultant will help establish:

  • Values-based communication approaches.
  • Inclusive language principles.
  • Strategies for addressing gender equality challenges through positive engagement.
  • Narrative approaches that encourage dialogue across generations and communities.
  • Recommendations for strengthening public understanding of women’s rights.

Qualifications and Experience Required

UN Women is seeking candidates with strong experience in strategic communication, advocacy, storytelling, research translation, or social change initiatives.

Applicants should have:

  • A Master’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, communications, public policy, human rights, political science, sociology, or a related field.
  • At least five years of professional experience in strategic narrative development, advocacy, public discourse, creative writing, or related areas.
  • Experience creating narratives, advocacy strategies, scripts, storytelling products, or communication materials for public audiences.
  • Strong ability to translate research and consultation findings into clear and engaging outputs.
  • Experience working with civil society organizations, social movements, international organizations, or public institutions is desirable.

Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to develop high-quality strategy papers and advocacy materials.

Language Requirements and Competencies

Fluency in both English and Turkish is required for this consultancy.
