Women for Women International (WfWI) is seeking an experienced global development leader for the position of Chief Programs & Partnerships Officer (CPPO). This senior executive role offers an opportunity to lead global programme strategy, partnerships, evidence-based programming, and organizational impact for an international nonprofit supporting women affected by war and conflict.

The position is available as a full-time, permanent role with flexible location options across Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Nigeria, Iraq, the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Overview of the Chief Programs & Partnerships Officer Role

The Chief Programs & Partnerships Officer will serve as a member of WfWI’s Executive Leadership Team and will report directly to the International Chief Executive Officer.

The CPPO will provide strategic leadership for:

• Global programme strategy.
• Programme quality and standards.

• Programme delivery coherence.

The role will ensure that funding opportunities and external partnerships remain aligned with WfWI’s mission, programme standards, and commitment to women affected by conflict.

Key Responsibilities of the CPPO

Leading Global Programme Strategy and Quality

The CPPO will oversee the development and implementation of WfWI’s global programme strategy while ensuring programmes remain effective, evidence-based, and responsive to women’s needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading global programme planning and strategy development.
• Maintaining programme quality standards.
• Strengthening evidence-informed approaches.
• Supporting innovation and programme improvements.
• Ensuring alignment between programmes, safeguarding, learning, and partnerships.

The role will hold final decision-making authority on major programme design changes, strategic pilots, and global programme standards.

Regional and Country Programme Leadership

The CPPO will provide executive oversight across WfWI’s international programme portfolio.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting Regional Directors and Country Directors.
• Ensuring country programmes align with global strategy.
• Identifying delivery risks and capacity gaps.
• Supporting effective programme implementation across multiple locations.
• Strengthening collaboration between global and regional teams.

The role will operate within a matrix leadership structure, supporting programme quality while allowing regional teams to manage operational responsibilities.

Evidence, Learning, and Programme Innovation

A key focus of the position will be strengthening evidence-based programming and organizational learning.

The CPPO will:

• Promote data-driven decision-making.
• Oversee learning and evaluation approaches.
• Support research partnerships.
• Ensure programme adaptations are informed by evidence.
• Strengthen knowledge sharing across the organization.

The role will work closely with research, advocacy, communications, and operational teams to ensure WfWI’s global influence reflects programme realities.

Business Development and Strategic Partnerships

The CPPO will provide leadership for institutional fundraising and partnerships, ensuring that funding opportunities support WfWI’s mission.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading global business development strategy.
• Supporting donor engagement.
• Reviewing major funding opportunities.
• Building strategic partnerships.
• Ensuring proposals are realistic, high quality, and aligned with programme capacity.

Crisis Response Fund Leadership

The CPPO will also provide executive leadership for WfWI’s Crisis Response Fund.

• Ensuring alignment with safeguarding and localization commitments.

Required Qualifications and Experience

WfWI is seeking a senior professional with extensive international development and humanitarian leadership experience.

Applicants should have:

• A master’s degree in international development, social sciences, public policy, gender studies, humanitarian studies, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of senior leadership experience in the nonprofit, humanitarian, or development sector.
• Experience managing complex programmes across multiple countries.
• Experience working in fragile or conflict-affected environments.
• Strong expertise in programme strategy and quality management.
• Experience leading institutional fundraising and donor partnerships.
• Experience managing large multicultural teams.
• Strong understanding of women’s rights, gender equality, and women, peace, and security issues.
