Role Overview: Senior Development Associate

The Senior Development Associate supports the Development team by strengthening fundraising operations, improving donor engagement systems, and helping achieve annual fundraising goals.

Reporting to the Director of Development Operations, the role combines:

  • Salesforce and donor database management.
  • Fundraising administration.
  • Donor communication.
  • Event coordination.
  • Executive and team support.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring accurate donor records, strong stewardship practices, and efficient development operations.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce Management and Data Operations

Approximately 30% of the role focuses on maintaining fundraising systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Updating and managing donor records in Salesforce.
  • Maintaining accurate contact information and donor preferences.
  • Improving database accuracy through record reviews and duplicate removal.
  • Creating Salesforce reports to support fundraising strategies.
  • Identifying operational improvements within donor management systems.
  • Protecting confidential donor information.

The Senior Development Associate will ensure that fundraising teams have reliable data to support donor relationships and decision-making.

Donor Stewardship and Fundraising Support

The role will support positive relationships with donors through effective communication and gift administration.

Key duties include:

  • Managing stock gift processes from acceptance to tax receipt completion.
  • Responding to donor inquiries through email and phone communication.
  • Processing donation updates, refunds, and recurring gift changes.
  • Managing matching gift confirmations.
  • Importing third-party giving data.
  • Preparing donor tax receipt letters.
  • Supporting campaign management activities.

The position requires strong attention to detail because donor records and financial information must be handled accurately and confidentially.

Event Coordination and Support

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Experience using CRM systems, especially Salesforce.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience processing charitable gifts.
