Women’s Peace Network (WPN) is inviting applications for a Development Specialist to support its fundraising, donor engagement, and organisational sustainability efforts.
This remote volunteer opportunity is ideal for experienced fundraising professionals passionate about human rights, peacebuilding, women’s empowerment, and supporting marginalised communities affected by conflict.
The selected volunteer will work closely with the Executive Director to identify funding opportunities, develop donor strategies, prepare grant proposals, and strengthen WPN’s fundraising systems.

About the Development Specialist Role
The Development Specialist will play a key role in supporting WPN’s long-term growth and sustainability.
Working directly with the Executive Director, the volunteer will help strengthen the organisation’s ability to secure financial support and expand its impact.
Key areas of focus include:
- Identifying funding opportunities.
- Developing grant proposals.
- Building donor relationships.
- Supporting fundraising strategies.
- Preparing donor communications.
- Strengthening reporting systems.
The role will also contribute to fundraising efforts for WPN’s new “Peace Lab” initiative.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising and Donor Engagement
The Development Specialist will:
- Research and identify suitable funding opportunities.
- Build and maintain donor prospect lists.
- Support donor engagement strategies.
- Assist with fundraising planning.
- Develop approaches to increase financial sustainability.
The successful candidate will help position WPN for stronger relationships with donors and funding partners.
Grant Writing and Proposal Development
Responsibilities include:
- Drafting funding proposals.
- Developing concept notes and supporting documents.
- Adapting proposals for different donor requirements.
- Assisting with grant applications.
- Supporting donor reporting processes.
The role requires strong writing skills and the ability to communicate WPN’s mission effectively.
Donor Strategy and Reporting Systems
The Development Specialist will support the creation of:
- Comprehensive donor strategies.
- Funding pipelines.
- Grant tracking systems.
- Reporting frameworks.
These systems will help improve organisational effectiveness and accountability.
Communications Support
The volunteer may also contribute to:
- Donor communications.
- Organisational materials.
- Fundraising presentations.
- Project updates.
Required Qualifications and Experience
WPN is seeking candidates with strong fundraising and development experience.
Essential requirements include:
- Minimum five years of experience leading donor relations for an organisation.
- Experience writing funding proposals for diverse donors and government partners.
- Excellent English writing and reporting skills.
- Strong commitment to human rights and dignity for marginalised communities.
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse and conflict-affected communities.
- Ability to manage changing priorities in fast-paced environments.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Additional strengths include:
- Experience working with small NGOs.
- Degree or equivalent experience in business, management, communications, or related fields.
- Existing connections with donors aligned with WPN’s mission.
- Familiarity with Myanmar and its context.
- Flexible working availability.
