The selected consultant will support communications activities across these important initiatives.

About the Consultancy

UN Women is recruiting a part-time, home-based International Consultant under a three-year retainer contract.

Rather than a full-time position, this consultancy operates on an on-call basis, meaning assignments will be provided according to programme needs and consultant availability. While there is no guaranteed workload, selected consultants may receive multiple assignments throughout the contract period.

The consultant will work closely with the Regional Programme Manager for Women’s Economic Empowerment and Migration to strengthen advocacy campaigns, digital communications, and public engagement.

Key Responsibilities

The consultant will provide communications, digital media, and administrative support across several programme areas.

1. Communications Content Development

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting engaging social media content
  • Maintaining communication and campaign schedules
  • Developing content for digital platforms
  • Creating visual materials using Canva and PowerPoint
  • Formatting reports, newsletters, presentations, and communication products
  • Copyediting and proofreading communication materials
  • Supporting website content reviews and quality assurance

2. Communication Coordination

The consultant will also:

  • Coordinate with designers, consultants, and vendors
  • Organize digital files and communication assets
  • Maintain SharePoint folders and collaboration platforms
  • Track website and social media analytics
  • Prepare communications performance summaries
  • Support approval workflows for publications and knowledge products

3. Event and Knowledge-Sharing Support

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Supporting webinars and regional events
  • Preparing event communication materials
  • Coordinating follow-up messaging after events
  • Organizing documentation and communication outputs
  • Supporting knowledge-sharing initiatives across programmes

The consultant may also perform additional communication-related duties as required by the Regional Office.

  • WeRise Together
  • UN Women Care and Climate Entrepreneurship Accelerator
  • Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Gender Action Lab
  • #BuyForEqual Campaign
  • #TransformCare Initiative
  • Regional Women’s Economic Empowerment forums and conferences

These initiatives promote inclusive economic growth, responsible business practices, entrepreneurship, safe migration, and improved care systems for women across Asia and the Pacific.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess strong communications and digital media experience.

Education

Candidates should have:

  • A Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, digital communications, educational technology, or a related field.

Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree combined with additional relevant professional experience may be accepted.

Professional Experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • At least two years of professional experience in strategic communications, advocacy, digital communications, web publishing, or related fields
  • Experience creating communication products for diverse audiences
  • Strong digital communications and social media management skills
  • Experience working in multicultural and online environments
  • Graphic design and visual communication experience
  • Knowledge of online applications and digital platforms

Experience working with the United Nations or knowledge of UN Women’s mandate areas is considered an advantage.

Payments will be made based on the number of days worked and satisfactory completion of assigned deliverables.
