Education and Training Manager at WomanACT: A Leadership Opportunity in Canada|Salary: CAD $65,000–$70,000/year

For professionals passionate about adult education, gender equity, workplace inclusion, and preventing gender-based violence, a new management opportunity with WomanACT offers the chance to combine education, program leadership, community engagement, and organizational change. The Education and Training Manager position is based in Toronto, Ontario, and provides an opportunity to lead education and training initiatives aimed at creating safer and more equitable workplaces and communities.

WomanACT is an organization working to eradicate violence against women and advance gender equity through community mobilization, research, policy development, education, and collaboration. Its work brings together community organizations, businesses, institutions, and other stakeholders to address systemic issues affecting women’s safety, economic security, and equality.

About the Education and Training Manager Role

The Education and Training Manager will oversee the development and delivery of education, training, and advisory services for community organizations, businesses, and institutions. The successful candidate will play a central role in developing training programs addressing gender-based violence prevention, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), women’s safety, housing, economic security, and organizational capacity building.

One of the key components of the position is leadership of WomanACT in the Workplace, a fee-for-service initiative that provides gender equity, anti-violence, and DEI education to workplaces across different sectors.

The manager will therefore combine educational expertise with partnership development and business development. They will help organizations identify opportunities to improve workplace policies and practices while supporting the creation of safer, more inclusive environments.

Key Responsibilities

A major responsibility will be overseeing the development, design, maintenance, and management of training content and educational materials. The manager will ensure that materials are grounded in research and evidence-based practices and will coordinate the delivery of workshops and training sessions.

Training audiences may include community agencies, workplace leaders, employees, and other stakeholders. Topics can include gender-based violence prevention, DEI, trauma-informed practice, workplace safety, and organizational change.

The manager will also provide advisory services to businesses and institutions, represent WomanACT at conferences and workshops, and support volunteers and interns involved in education initiatives.

Another important part of the position involves business development. The successful candidate will identify potential clients and partners, promote training and advisory services, and develop relationships with businesses, unions, and workplace stakeholders.

They will also work with organizations to conduct workplace assessments and develop customized action plans for improving policies and practices.

Program Management and Evaluation

Beyond training delivery, the position includes significant program management responsibilities. The Education and Training Manager will coordinate knowledge-mobilization activities, liaise with external contractors, support virtual meetings, facilitate discussions, and work collaboratively with other members of the WomanACT team.

Monitoring and evaluation will also be important. The manager will maintain data on training activities, contribute to evaluation frameworks, analyze feedback, and use findings to improve educational programs.

They will prepare reports and presentations communicating program achievements, outcomes, and lessons learned to funders, partners, and other stakeholders.

This combination of training, management, evaluation, partnership development, and communication makes the position particularly suitable for professionals with multidisciplinary experience.

Qualifications and Experience

WomanACT requires a post-secondary degree in Education, Social Work, Women’s Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants should have approximately 3–5 years of experience in adult education, training development, or a related area. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge of gender equity, gender-based violence, feminist frameworks, and anti-oppression practices.

Experience in curriculum development and training facilitation is essential, together with strong communication, presentation, public-speaking, critical-thinking, organizational, and project-management abilities.

The successful candidate should also understand HR legislation and workplace policy development and have experience with business development and marketing.

Technical skills are important as well. WomanACT is seeking someone comfortable with e-learning platforms and educational technology, Microsoft Office, social media, presentation tools, and digital design. Familiarity with platforms such as Thinkific, SurveyMonkey, Monday.com, and MailChimp is an advantage, as is basic HTML knowledge.

Experience in the violence-against-women sector, knowledge of Ontario’s violence-against-women response system, multilingual abilities, and instructional-design certification are considered assets.

Salary and Benefits

The position offers a salary of approximately $70,000 per year, with the advertised range listed as $65,000–$70,000.

The role is full-time at 35 hours per week, although some evening and weekend work may occasionally be required. The anticipated start date is October 2026 or earlier by mutual agreement.

Benefits include a group extended health plan, employer pension plan, two weeks of paid vacation, professional-development opportunities, and a collaborative working environment.

Important: This Is Not a Fully Remote Position

International applicants should pay particular attention to the location requirements.

Although the position is described as hybrid, successful candidates must work both from home and from WomanACT’s office at 1652 Keele Street in Toronto, Ontario. Employees are expected to attend the office at least two days per week, and this requirement may increase in the future.

Most importantly, applicants must already be legally authorized to work in Canada and must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the Toronto office.

Therefore, this opportunity is not suitable for someone seeking an overseas position with visa sponsorship or a fully remote role from another country.

How to Apply

Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and a sample of training or curriculum they have developed, combined into one PDF document.

The file should follow the requested naming format:
