About the Role

The Community & Engagement Lead will be responsible for building and nurturing Watsi’s global supporter community. Working closely with the Executive Director and marketing leadership, the successful candidate will help deepen relationships with donors, grow engagement programs, and expand the organization’s reach.

This role blends community engagement, communications, storytelling, and strategic outreach, with a strong focus on creating meaningful and lasting connections between supporters and the patients they help.

Key Responsibilities

Community Building & Donor Engagement

The role involves strengthening relationships with existing supporters by:

  • Developing donor stewardship and personalized engagement strategies
  • Sharing impact stories that highlight patient outcomes
  • Growing ambassador programs and supporter networks
  • Creating opportunities for meaningful community connection
  • Enhancing recognition and appreciation initiatives

Outreach and Growth

The Community & Engagement Lead will also expand Watsi’s global supporter base by:

  • Identifying and cultivating new donors, partners, and advocates
  • Managing supporter journeys from first contact to long-term engagement
  • Conducting research and outreach across multiple channels, including email, events, and LinkedIn
  • Building pathways for deeper engagement with the organization

Communications and Storytelling

A central part of the role includes crafting compelling narratives that inspire action:

  • Creating content for newsletters, social media, and impact reports
  • Sharing stories of patients, donors, and ambassadors
  • Supporting campaigns and communications initiatives
  • Exploring media and speaking opportunities to broaden visibility
  • Testing and refining messaging based on engagement data

Events and Community Experiences

The role includes designing meaningful engagement experiences such as:

  • Virtual and in-person donor events
  • Community gatherings and ambassador activations
  • Story-driven experiences that reflect Watsi’s mission
  • End-to-end event coordination, from planning to follow-up

Executive Support and Strategic Projects

The Community & Engagement Lead will also support senior leadership by:

  • Preparing briefing materials and donor communications
  • Coordinating cross-team initiatives and partnerships
  • Strengthening internal systems for engagement and outreach
  • Supporting high-priority relationship management efforts

Who Should Apply?

Watsi is looking for a creative, motivated, and relationship-driven professional with:

  • 2–4 years of professional experience (nonprofit experience is helpful but not required)
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Experience in community building, marketing, outreach, or engagement roles
  • Comfort working in remote, distributed teams
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Creativity, initiative, and entrepreneurial thinking
  • Familiarity with digital tools such as Slack, Notion, Google Workspace, or similar platforms
  • An interest in using data, experimentation, and storytelling to improve engagement

Compensation and Work Environment

This is a fully remote position open globally, with a salary range of USD $45,000–$55,000 per year, depending on experience.
