Program Overview: Lebanon and Jordan

The Technical Field Manager will support MAG’s Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) programs in Lebanon and Jordan.

Lebanon Programme

MAG began its WAM and Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) activities in Lebanon in 2017. The program works closely with national partners including the Lebanese Armed Forces to improve the safety and security of ammunition storage and management.

Key achievements of the program include:

• Construction of more than 20 explosive storehouses
• Creation of over 2,000 square meters of safe storage space
• Training 90+ Lebanese Armed Forces personnel
• Conducting 66 ammunition site safety assessments

Future plans include expanding ammunition storage facilities and strengthening national training programs to ensure long-term safety and sustainability.

Jordan Programme

Building on its global expertise, Mines Advisory Group has also launched a project in Jordan to support the Jordanian Armed Forces.

The initiative focuses on strengthening Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) systems. The project aims to enhance regional security by reducing risks associated with poorly managed or illicitly proliferated conventional weapons.

MAG works with national authorities to help implement the Munitions Infrastructure Master Plan, improving safe storage, inspection, and management of ammunition.

Role Overview

The WAM Technical Field Manager (AT/ATO) plays a key operational leadership role in delivering ammunition management activities and technical training.

The position involves working with national authorities and military partners to improve safe handling, storage, and disposal of weapons and ammunition.

Technical Field Managers operate under the guidance of the WAM Technical Lead and senior technical advisors while ensuring all activities follow international standards and MAG’s operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves several operational and technical responsibilities within the Weapons and Ammunition Management program.

Delivering Technical Training

A core responsibility will be supporting the delivery of International Ammunition Technical Courses in both Lebanon and Jordan.

These courses cover the complete lifecycle of ammunition management, including:

• Safe storage and inspection procedures
• Risk reduction strategies
• Ammunition handling practices
• Disposal of obsolete or unsafe explosives

The training aims to strengthen national capacity in ammunition management and safety.

Supporting WAM Operations

The Technical Field Manager will also contribute to the implementation of WAM activities according to international technical standards.

Responsibilities may include:

• Applying International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATG)
• Supporting Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) management systems
• Assisting in the development of national ammunition safety standards
• Ensuring safe handling of technical materials and equipment

These efforts help ensure ammunition management practices meet internationally recognized safety frameworks.

Mentoring and Capacity Development

Another key component of the role is strengthening local expertise.

The Technical Field Manager will support the development of national staff and government counterparts by:

• Mentoring technical personnel
• Supporting training delivery

• Strengthening institutional capacity in WAM operations

Qualifications and Experience

The role requires an experienced professional with a technical background in ammunition or explosive ordnance management.

Essential qualifications include:

• A recognized AT or ATO qualification aligned with IATG standards
• IMAS Level 3+ certification
• Operational experience in ammunition disposal and logistics
• Experience handling guided weapons and missile disposal
• Strong knowledge of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) operations

Candidates should also have experience supervising teams and supporting technical capacity development.

Salary and Benefits

The total starting compensation package ranges between:

• £73,324 and £80,848 per year
• Approximately $93,000 to $102,000 USD
