Role Purpose

The MEL Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) across WAGGGS’ Learning and Leadership Development (LLD) portfolio and other global programmes as needed. The role ensures that programme and organisational MEL systems are effectively implemented, while contributing to learning, evidence-based decision-making, and reporting.

The MEL Coordinator provides day-to-day coordination and technical support to programme teams, collaborating closely with the organisational MEL Manager and the wider MEL team to align activities with WAGGGS’ standards, frameworks, and MEL approaches.


Key Responsibilities

  • MEL Coordination:
    • Support the development and implementation of MEL frameworks, tools, and systems at organisational and programme levels.
    • Coordinate MEL activities across LLD and other global programmes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
    • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to programme teams for data collection, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation plans for programmes.
    • Gather, collate, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to measure outcomes, impact, and behaviour change.
    • Identify trends, gaps, and lessons learned to inform programme improvements.
  • Learning and Reporting:
    • Support internal and external reporting by providing evidence-based insights and recommendations.
    • Develop learning materials and knowledge products to enhance programme performance and organisational learning.
    • Foster a culture of learning by sharing findings and best practices across teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Technical Support:
    • Work closely with programme staff to ensure effective MEL implementation.
    • Contribute to organisational MEL standards and guidance documents.
    • Support the integration of gender equality and inclusion principles into MEL processes.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with experience in monitoring and evaluating behaviour change programmes.
  • Proven ability to design, test, and implement MEL plans, tools, and frameworks.
  • Experience in gathering, analysing, and communicating data effectively for learning and reporting purposes.
  • Interest or experience in leadership development, education, or gender equality programmes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and coordinate across diverse teams.
  • Adaptability to work in a global, volunteer-led organisation, managing multiple priorities and time zones.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with international development monitoring and evaluation standards.
  • Experience working with youth-focused or gender-focused programmes.
  • Knowledge of participatory approaches to MEL and learning systems.
