About the UNICEF Consultancy

Key Responsibilities
The consultant will provide technical support throughout the design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination stages of impact evaluations.

The successful candidate will also be expected to ensure that research involving children follows appropriate ethical and safeguarding standards. This includes applying human-subject research principles and ensuring that data collection and evaluation activities are conducted responsibly.

Who Can Apply?
This consultancy is designed for experienced professionals with an advanced university degree, such as a Master’s degree or higher, in economics, public health, public policy, political science, evaluation, development studies, sociology, or a closely related discipline.
Applicants should have more than five years of professional experience contributing to or leading rigorous impact evaluations.
Experience designing and implementing evaluations in low-income countries is particularly important. Candidates should also have experience collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data and working on research related to violence against children.
Knowledge of child safeguarding and ethical research protocols is required, along with human-subjects ethics certification such as CITI or an equivalent qualification.
Technical Skills and Experience
Strong analytical capabilities are central to the role. Candidates should have experience with quantitative impact evaluation methodologies and qualitative research techniques.
Knowledge of Stata or R for statistical analysis is required, while experience using NVivo or ATLAS.ti for qualitative analysis is also valuable.
Experience with cost-effectiveness analysis, technical report writing, and translating complex research findings into accessible information will strengthen an application.
A publication record in areas such as child marriage, violence against children, adolescent girls, or related development issues may provide an additional advantage.
Excellent English communication and writing skills are essential. Knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic would be an asset when working across UNICEF’s international teams.
