This contract-based position offers a monthly compensation of USD $2,500 and provides the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world. Crushing Colonialism is an Indigenous-led collective dedicated to uplifting Indigenous voices through multimedia storytelling, advocacy, and community-centered initiatives. The organization supports Indigenous media creators by increasing employment opportunities, funding media projects, and promoting Indigenous narratives on a global scale.

By prioritizing narrative sovereignty and decolonial approaches, Crushing Colonialism works to challenge historical systems of oppression while amplifying stories that have often been overlooked.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Development will oversee fundraising operations and revenue generation strategies. The role requires a highly experienced development professional who can cultivate donor relationships, secure grants, identify funding opportunities, and support the organization’s growth objectives.

The contract is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2026, and continue through July 31, 2027.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Development will be responsible for leading several critical functions, including:

Fundraising and Revenue Growth

• Developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies.
• Identifying grant opportunities and alternative funding streams.
• Building corporate sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
• Leading fundraising campaigns that align with organizational values.
• Collaborating with leadership to achieve financial targets.

Donor Stewardship and Engagement

• Cultivating long-term relationships with donors and supporters.
• Managing donor communications and appreciation initiatives.

Grant Oversight and Compliance

Qualifications Required

Crushing Colonialism is seeking candidates who possess significant experience working with Indigenous communities and nonprofit fundraising initiatives.

Required qualifications include:

• At least 10 years of experience working with Indigenous communities and tribes.
• Minimum of 7 years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience within U.S.-based nonprofit organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
• Proven success managing fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation strategies.
• Experience with donor management platforms and CRM systems.
• Previous experience collaborating with grant writers or development teams.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote and cross-border environment.
• Commitment to decolonial frameworks and anti-oppressive practices.

Preferred Qualifications
