About the Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist Role
The M&E Specialist will become an important part of Tiko’s Evidence and Learning team, reporting directly to the Director of Evidence and Learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, improving and implementing rigorous monitoring and evaluation systems that demonstrate how Tiko’s programmes create impact.
This means going beyond simply collecting data. The specialist will analyse information, identify trends, challenge assumptions and translate findings into recommendations that can improve programme delivery.
The role will also support evidence-based decision-making across areas such as donor proposals, programme design, field implementation and organisational learning.
Key Responsibilities
One of the major responsibilities will be developing strategic monitoring frameworks and data architecture.
The successful candidate will help design Theories of Change, monitoring frameworks and work plans during programme development and donor proposal processes. They will also establish appropriate indicators, impact metrics, targets and baselines.
Another important responsibility will be technical data management and analysis.
The specialist will oversee the collection, cleaning, categorisation and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative datasets. They will work closely with Tiko’s Data Analytics team to extract operational insights from platform databases and improve the use of Health Information Systems such as DHIS2.
The role also involves working with digital data collection and visualisation tools including KoboToolbox and Tableau.
Data Quality and Partner Support
Data quality will be a major component of the position.
The M&E Specialist will help select quality assurance partners, develop training sessions and provide field supervision. They will also conduct regular Data Quality Audits (DQAs) with Programme Managers.
When unusual data or field implementation problems arise, the specialist will be expected to provide technical troubleshooting and practical guidance.
The position therefore combines technical expertise with strong communication, training and relationship-management skills.

Salary and Benefits
Tiko has published different salary ranges depending on the candidate’s location.
For South Africa, the gross monthly salary is:
R63,189 – R78,986 per month, paid 12 times annually.
For Nigeria, the gross monthly salary is:
₦3,733,184 – ₦4,666,479 per month, paid 12 times annually.
The final salary will depend on the candidate’s experience and alignment with the position.
Additional benefits include location-specific benefits and allowances, flexible remote or hybrid working arrangements, and a €500 annual personal development budget.
Employees also receive unlimited holiday days, subject to coordination with their teams.
