Technical Advisor at CHAI(2026): Southeast Asia HIV Prevention Opportunity | Apply Online

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Technical Advisor, Country Support, Global HIV Access Program. This is a full-time opportunity focused on HIV prevention, long-acting injectable PrEP, health systems strengthening, research, and strategic country support.

The role is listed in Vietnam, with the possibility of being based in another Southeast Asian program country, subject to approval from the relevant country director. Candidates with strong analytical, public health, global health, economics, policy, or related experience are encouraged to apply.

About the Technical Advisor Opportunity

The Technical Advisor will join CHAI’s HIV Hepatitis & TB – Global HIV Access Program and report to the HIV Prevention Associate Director. The position will contribute to projects supporting the introduction and scale-up of long-acting HIV prevention products, particularly lenacapavir (LEN).

Lenacapavir is a long-acting injectable HIV prevention option designed to provide protection over an extended period. CHAI is working with governments, communities, private-sector partners, and other stakeholders to support effective HIV prevention interventions and strengthen health systems.

The successful candidate will help generate evidence, develop strategies, support country implementation, and contribute to efforts to secure government and donor financing for sustainable HIV prevention programs.

Key Responsibilities

The Technical Advisor will be responsible for a wide range of analytical, technical, operational, and strategic activities.

A major part of the position involves designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis to address evidence gaps related to injectable PrEP. This may include examining HIV testing and linkage strategies, identifying priority populations and locations, assessing delivery models, and analysing costs and potential health impacts.

The successful candidate will also develop presentations, data visualizations, technical briefs, conference materials, publications, infographics, and other communication products to communicate findings to internal and external audiences.

Another important responsibility will be providing country-level technical assistance for LEN introduction and scale-up. This can include supporting implementation research protocols, regulatory readiness, provider training, demand generation activities, and work planning.

The Technical Advisor will also monitor project milestones and deliverables, coordinate reporting inputs, prepare donor updates, and support engagement with Ministries of Health, research institutions, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field. Suitable disciplines may include public policy, public health, global health, economics, business, pharmacy, social sciences, or another relevant scientific field. Candidates with alternative educational backgrounds may also be considered.

At least six years of professional experience is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience developing rigorous analyses, translating findings into clear deliverables, managing complex projects, and providing strategic guidance.

Experience in HIV, sexual and reproductive health, or another relevant public health field is highly relevant.

Strong research, writing, communication, organization, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Applicants should also be comfortable managing multiple complex tasks independently and working in environments where priorities may change.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, together with data visualization skills, is expected.

Experience That Can Strengthen an Application

CHAI identifies several areas that can give candidates an advantage. These include experience in fast-paced environments such as strategy consulting, investment banking, or pharmaceutical companies.

Experience conducting quantitative or qualitative research, writing or contributing to academic publications, and working successfully in a remote or decentralized environment can also strengthen an application.

Experience working in Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam or Indonesia, is an additional advantage.

Because the position involves country support and stakeholder engagement, candidates must also be willing and able to travel approximately 40% of the time.

Location and Job Details

This is a full-time position within CHAI’s Global HIV Access Program. The job is associated with Vietnam, although the role may be located in another Southeast Asian program country with country director approval.

The position is particularly suited to professionals who want to combine public health research, data analysis, HIV prevention, health policy, project management, and international development.

Salary information and an application deadline were not included in the job details provided. Applicants should therefore review the official vacancy carefully for the latest recruitment information before submitting an application.

How to Apply

Interested candidates can apply online through CHAI’s recruitment portal. Applicants should prepare a strong CV and ensure that their experience demonstrates the analytical, technical, communication, project management, and public health capabilities required for the position.

The application should clearly demonstrate relevant experience in HIV prevention or public health, complex analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategic project support.

Application: Candidates can apply through the official online application page provided in the vacancy.
