UN Women Seeks Home-Based Consultant to Support Women’s Empowerment Principles Implementation |Deadline 13 Jul 2026

The UN Women is inviting applications for a Consultant on Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Implementation and Policy Development to support gender equality initiatives and women’s economic empowerment efforts in Ukraine.

This home-based individual consultancy provides an opportunity for gender equality specialists, policy experts, and private sector advisors to contribute to advancing inclusive workplace practices and supporting businesses in implementing gender-responsive policies.

The consultancy is a part-time assignment with an initial contract duration of 60 days within the period of June–December 2026. Applications close on July 13, 2026.

Support Women’s Economic Empowerment Through UN Women

UN Women works globally to promote gender equality, protect women’s rights, and strengthen women’s participation in development, humanitarian action, peace, and security.

In Ukraine, UN Women continues its work despite the challenges created by conflict and humanitarian needs. The organization focuses on ensuring that women and girls remain central to recovery efforts while supporting inclusive economic opportunities.

Under its Ukraine Strategic Note 2025–2029, UN Women prioritizes three major areas:

The consultant will contribute specifically to the inclusive economic growth pillar by supporting private sector engagement and strengthening workplace practices that promote gender equality.

Advance the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

The consultancy focuses on supporting businesses and organizations implementing the Women’s Empowerment Principles.

Developed by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, the Women’s Empowerment Principles provide a framework for businesses to advance gender equality in the workplace, marketplace, and community.

The principles encourage companies to:

  • Create equal opportunities for women and men.
  • Promote fair employment practices.
  • Address gender-based discrimination.
  • Prevent sexual harassment.
  • Build inclusive workplace cultures.
  • Support women’s leadership and economic participation.

The consultant will help companies and business associations strengthen their implementation of these principles and develop practical approaches to gender-responsive business practices.

Key Responsibilities of the Consultant

The selected consultant will provide technical and coordination support for WEPs-related activities in Ukraine.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting companies in reviewing and developing gender equality policies and practices.
  • Assisting organizations with gender self-assessments and Gender Action Plans.
  • Developing and maintaining databases related to WEPs activities, participants, and partnerships.
  • Supporting coordination of WEPs engagement activities.
  • Identifying partnership opportunities and resources for companies.
  • Supporting initiatives that promote women’s economic empowerment.
  • Collecting and analyzing data for monitoring and reporting.
  • Preparing progress updates, lessons learned, and final reports.
  • Supporting webinars, workshops, and awareness-raising activities.
  • Engaging with businesses and partners through online and possible in-person meetings.

The consultant will work closely with UN Women’s Women’s Economic Empowerment team and private sector partnership specialists.

Home-Based Consultancy With Flexible International Collaboration

This position is fully home-based, allowing the selected consultant to work remotely.

The assignment may require occasional travel based on UN Women’s needs, including possible visits to partner organizations.

The consultant will collaborate with stakeholders including:

  • Private sector companies.
  • Business associations.
  • Civil society organizations.
  • Development partners.
  • UN Women programme teams.

Strong communication and coordination skills will be essential for managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Experience

UN Women is seeking candidates with strong expertise in gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, and private sector engagement.

Applicants should have:

  • An advanced Master’s degree in Economics, Marketing, Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience after completing a Master’s degree.
  • Experience working on gender equality, labour markets, private sector engagement, or women’s economic empowerment.
  • Experience providing training or consulting services to businesses on gender equality issues.
  • Experience conducting gender analysis, research, surveys, and assessments.
  • Experience developing gender-responsive policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with private sector organizations, civil society groups, and development partners.

Experience working with the United Nations system will be considered an advantage.

Core Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge and practical application of gender equality frameworks.

Required competencies include:

  • Understanding of Women’s Empowerment Principles and gender-responsive approaches.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage data collection and reporting processes.
  • Experience applying Results-Based Management principles.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Language Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Ukrainian.
