About the Communications Consultant Role

The successful consultant will play a central role in implementing DPI’s comprehensive communications strategy rather than creating one from scratch. The strategy already includes messaging frameworks, governance procedures, content guidelines, risk management processes, and European Union visibility requirements.

The consultant will work closely with the Programmes team while reporting directly to the Head of Programmes and Operations and the Senior Project Officer.

This consultancy runs for 12 months, with the possibility of extension, and involves approximately 55 to 65 consultancy days spread across the project period, allowing considerable flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Consultant will oversee strategic communications throughout the project’s lifecycle, including:

• Implementing DPI’s approved communications strategy.
• Managing digital communications across LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, newsletters, and other platforms.
• Coordinating media engagement and publication launches.
• Producing newsletters, event communications, and dissemination materials.
• Managing external communications contractors, including photographers, designers, videographers, and translators.
• Ensuring compliance with European Union visibility and branding requirements.
• Monitoring communications performance through analytics and reporting.
• Producing end-of-project visibility and impact reports.
• Supporting communications surrounding politically sensitive events and peacebuilding activities.

Because the programme addresses complex political issues, all sensitive communications will undergo a structured governance and approval process before publication.
