Role Purpose
The Programme Officer role supports ShelterBox’s International Programmes Department, contributing to the delivery of high-quality humanitarian responses across rapid-onset disasters and protracted emergencies. Reporting to the Regional Director for Asia and MENA (Middle East and North Africa), the role works closely with Programme Managers and the wider Programme Delivery Team across multiple regions.
The International Programmes Department is structured across three regional directorates:
- Asia and MENA
- East and Southern Africa
- West Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean
The Programme Officer provides varied and flexible support across the programme cycle, including partnership development, project documentation, monitoring and reporting, and emergency preparedness. The role is deployable and may include travel to crisis-affected countries to support emergency response and programme delivery in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Delivery and Support
- Support the delivery of international programmes and emergency responses under the guidance of Programme Managers and the Regional Director.
- Deputise for Programme Managers when required, ensuring continuity of programme delivery.
- Assist with project documentation, including proposals, agreements, reports, and internal briefings.
- Support programme monitoring by reviewing partner reports and analysing data, including post-distribution monitoring (PDM) findings.
- Track programme progress and expenditures in line with approved budgets and donor requirements.
Emergency Response and Preparedness
- Support preparedness and response activities for rapid-onset disasters across Asia, MENA, and Africa.
- Monitor disasters, conflict dynamics, and humanitarian trends to inform programme planning and response.
- Support emergency deployments and provide operational assistance in crisis-affected locations when required.
- Assist with safety, security, and travel planning for programme teams and partners.
- Contribute to regional emergency preparedness initiatives and readiness planning.
Partnerships and Coordination
- Work collaboratively with partner organisations, including local, national, and international NGOs.
- Support the development and maintenance of effective partnerships aligned with ShelterBox’s humanitarian objectives.
- Assist with coordination and networking with governments, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, and other stakeholders.
- Represent ShelterBox in meetings, workshops, or coordination forums as required.
Reporting, Learning, and Knowledge Management
- Prepare written and verbal updates for internal and external audiences, including donors and supporters.
- Support the collation of lessons learned and best practices across regional programmes.
- Contribute to learning initiatives and support the delivery of training to partners where appropriate.
- Assist with research and analysis related to humanitarian response, shelter programming, and regional contexts.
Administrative and Cross-Team Support
- Provide administrative support, including note-taking, workshop facilitation, and logistical coordination.
- Support internal processes related to travel, deployments, and programme coordination.
- Ensure adherence to ShelterBox operational policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards.
- Carry out additional duties as required, appropriate to the level and grade of the role.
Candidate Profile
