Lead Strategic Communications for a Growing Health Nonprofit

The Amyloidosis Research Consortium (ARC) is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join its team as Director of Communications and Marketing. This fully remote leadership position is designed for a strategic communicator who can strengthen nonprofit visibility, build meaningful engagement, and support efforts to improve the lives of people affected by amyloidosis.

About the Director of Communications and Marketing Role

The Director of Communications and Marketing will lead ARC’s communication function while working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and organizational leadership. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic planning with practical execution.

The position requires someone who can develop communication strategies, manage campaigns, create compelling content, and coordinate resources to achieve organizational goals.

The Director will oversee communications planning, digital platforms, brand development, website improvements, social media, email communications, fundraising campaigns, and event communications.

This role provides an opportunity to build and strengthen ARC’s communications systems while helping a growing nonprofit increase its impact.

Key Responsibilities and Areas of Focus

The Director of Communications and Marketing will be responsible for developing and implementing an annual communications and marketing plan aligned with ARC’s mission and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and managing integrated communication strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Developing storytelling approaches that highlight patient, caregiver, and healthcare experiences.
  • Supporting fundraising efforts through donor communications and awareness campaigns.
  • Managing website content, performance improvements, and digital experiences.
  • Leading social media strategies to increase engagement and community awareness.
  • Producing newsletters, reports, blogs, and educational resources.
  • Supporting major events, campaigns, and organizational initiatives.
  • Tracking communication performance through data, analytics, and measurable outcomes.

The successful candidate will also work with external contractors and vendors, including supporting major digital projects such as website redesign initiatives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

ARC is looking for an experienced communications leader with a strong background in nonprofit communications, marketing, or external relations.

Applicants should have:

  • At least seven years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or related fields.
  • Experience developing fundraising and donor communications.
  • Strong writing and editing abilities.
  • Experience managing multi-channel campaigns involving email, websites, social media, and print.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific or medical information into accessible content.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience using communication analytics and performance measurements.

Candidates with experience in healthcare, rare disease organizations, patient advocacy, or scientific nonprofits will be highly valued.

Knowledge of CRM systems, email platforms, social media tools, and digital design platforms will also be beneficial.
