Human Rights Defenders (HRD) Programme Associate
- Location: Remote in Asia
- Employment Duration: 2-year contract (starting immediately, with a 3-month probationary period)
- Remuneration: USD 25,935 gross per annum (including 13th-month salary) + Comprehensive Health Insurance

About the Position
The HRD Programme Associate will support the implementation of FORUM-ASIA’s HRD Programme, aimed at providing protection measures for human rights defenders at risk in Asia. Responsibilities include assisting with emergency assistance, organizing capacity-building initiatives, and contributing to monitoring and advocacy efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Human Rights, Law, Politics, or related fields
- At least 2 years of experience in human rights, preferably in protection and emergency assistance
- Strong understanding of human rights issues in Asia, with a gender-sensitive approach
- Ability to assess and mitigate security risks for HRDs
- Fluency in English (an Asian language is an asset)

Job Description
FORUM-ASIA is seeking a consultant to develop its first Annual BHR Report, which will analyze trends, case studies, challenges, and recommendations across Asia for 2024.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the report outline with the BHR Programme team
- Conduct research using case studies, surveys, interviews, and desk research
- Draft and refine the report (60-100 pages)
- Incorporate feedback and finalize the report by 15 July 2025
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in research and human rights work in Asia
- Expertise in Business & Human Rights (BHR) issues
- Strong quantitative & qualitative research skills
- Fluent in English (written & spoken)
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
