Position Overview

The Development Manager is responsible for executing and managing fundraising campaigns, donor relations, sponsorship development, and operational infrastructure to ensure consistent revenue streams. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position balances strategic planning with hands-on execution, providing the necessary support to expand Recovery Beyond’s impact. This role is essential to reducing reliance on informal fundraising processes, increasing donor retention, and strengthening the organization’s capacity to deliver its mission.

Core Responsibilities

Annual Fund & Individual Giving (25%)

  • Implement the organization’s annual development plan.
  • Manage donor pipelines and segmentation for targeted engagement.
  • Coordinate annual giving campaigns, including appeals, year-end campaigns, and giving days.
  • Draft donor communications, track retention metrics, and support recurring donor growth strategies.

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising (20%)

  • Manage participant-driven fundraising campaigns, such as the Seattle-to-Portland bike ride.
  • Provide resources, coaching, and templates for fundraisers.
  • Track engagement and revenue progress while coordinating campaign communications.

Corporate Sponsorships (20%)

  • Maintain and manage a pipeline of potential corporate sponsors.
  • Prepare proposals and agreements, ensuring sponsor benefits are fulfilled.
  • Strengthen long-term partnerships with consistent engagement.

Donor Stewardship & Communications (15%)

  • Ensure timely acknowledgments and maintain a donor stewardship calendar.
  • Coordinate impact communications and integrate fundraising messages into newsletters.
  • Track engagement touchpoints to maximize donor lifetime value.

CRM & Development Operations (20%)

  • Maintain donor database accuracy and generate fundraising reports.
  • Track progress toward revenue goals and document workflows.
  • Improve data entry consistency and establish reporting practices.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support Executive Director in preparation for donor meetings.
  • Assist with grant writing, tracking, and reporting.
  • Provide logistical support for fundraising events.
  • Participate in occasional evening or weekend activities related to fundraising.

This role focuses on fundraising and development operations rather than program operations, volunteer coordination, or trip logistics.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems and database management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

  • Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising and corporate sponsorships.
  • Background in small or growing nonprofits.
  • Experience supporting volunteer fundraisers.
