Prospera International Network of Women’s Funds Seeks Human Resources Manager to Advance Feminist, Equity-Centered People Practices (Salary up to $75,000 annually)

Strengthening Inclusive HR Systems Across a Global Feminist Network

Prospera International Network of Women’s and Feminist Funds, a global membership network of 49 women’s and feminist funds operating across 173 countries, has announced a vacancy for a Human Resources Manager within its Secretariat team. The role is based in Canada and is offered as a full-time position (35 hours per week), with a salary range of USD 70,000–75,000 per annum plus benefits.

The position supports Prospera’s mission to redistribute resources to feminist movements across the Global South and East, while embedding feminist principles of equity, collective care, and anti-oppressive practice into all aspects of organizational management.

A Feminist Approach to Human Resources and Organizational Culture

The HR Manager will play a central role in shaping and operationalizing people-centered systems that reflect Prospera’s feminist values. The role goes beyond traditional HR administration, focusing instead on building inclusive, equitable, and trauma-informed workplace practices.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the HR Manager will work closely with senior leadership to strengthen organizational culture, support decentralized decision-making, and promote shared leadership across a fully remote international team.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Embedding feminist, anti-racist, and equity-based principles into HR systems
  • Supporting inclusive recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes
  • Strengthening staff wellbeing and organizational care practices
  • Managing performance systems that prioritize learning and development
  • Facilitating organizational reflection on power, bias, and equity

Core Human Resources Responsibilities

The HR Manager will oversee a wide range of HR functions designed to ensure a healthy, compliant, and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with labour laws and internal policies
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
  • Leading inclusive recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Managing performance development systems and staff learning initiatives
  • Supporting employee relations, conflict resolution, and wellbeing
  • Developing HR indicators and reporting on organizational people metrics
  • Strengthening internal communication and staff engagement in a remote setting

A key aspect of the role is fostering a workplace culture that actively challenges urgency-driven work patterns and promotes sustainable, wellbeing-centered workflows.

Administrative Leadership and Organizational Support

In addition to HR responsibilities, the role includes oversight of key administrative functions that support the effective functioning of the Secretariat.

These include:

  • Managing outsourced IT service providers and internal IT coordination
  • Organizing staff and board retreats and organizational convenings
  • Overseeing travel, insurance, and vendor relationships
  • Establishing standards for contract management and service evaluation
  • Supporting organizational planning, budgeting, and risk management

This dual HR-administration function reflects the integrated nature of operations within Prospera’s small, globally distributed Secretariat team.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

Prospera is seeking an experienced HR professional with strong expertise in organizational development, equity-focused people management, and international team coordination.

Essential requirements include:

  • A degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • 5–7 years of HR and administration experience in international organizations
  • At least 3 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience designing inclusive and equitable HR systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • High level of discretion in handling sensitive information
  • Fluency in English

Preferred qualifications include experience in feminist organizations, HR certification (such as SHRM or CIPD), and familiarity with networks operating across the Global South and East.

Candidates based in the Global South and East are strongly encouraged to apply, reflecting Prospera’s commitment to equitable representation across its network.

A Values-Driven Workplace Model

Prospera emphasizes feminist values as the foundation of its organizational structure and HR systems. The HR Manager will be expected to support a workplace culture rooted in:

  • Equity and anti-oppression
  • Collective care and wellbeing
  • Decentralized decision-making
  • Transparency and shared leadership
  • Accountability in addressing bias and systemic inequality

The role also involves strengthening internal communication systems to ensure staff remain informed, engaged, and supported across different time zones and cultural contexts.

Application Process and Submission Details

Interested candidates are invited to apply by preparing:

  • A detailed CV in English
  • A one-page motivation letter outlining alignment with the role

After submission, applicants will receive an automated confirmation. Queries regarding the application process can be directed to the recruitment contact provided by the organization.

Conclusion: Advancing Feminist Leadership in Human Resources

This Human Resources Manager position reflects Prospera’s commitment to reimagining HR as a tool for equity, care, and systemic transformation. Rather than focusing solely on administrative compliance, the role integrates feminist principles into every stage of the employee lifecycle—from recruitment to organizational learning and leadership development.

By strengthening internal systems and cultivating a supportive remote work culture, the HR Manager will contribute directly to Prospera’s broader mission of supporting feminist movements worldwide through more equitable and sustainable organizational practices.
