About The Many Brains Project
The Many Brains Project is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing cognitive and behavioral science through digital assessment tools, scientific infrastructure, and open research resources.
The organization develops and supports the TestMyBrain platform, cognitive assessments, educational resources, and the TestMyBrain Digital Lab. Its work supports researchers, clinicians, educators, and other organizations through scientific testing, behavioral data collection, and research collaboration.
The organization also serves as the technology lead for major research initiatives, including the Open Measurement Network Initiative for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (OMNI ADRD).
About the Programs & Operations Manager Role
The Programs & Operations Manager will play an important role in expanding the organization’s operational capacity. Because The Many Brains Project is a small and growing team, the successful candidate will have significant ownership and autonomy.
Rather than focusing on one narrow area, the position involves a wide range of responsibilities. The successful candidate may coordinate research studies, support external partnerships, improve internal systems, prepare organizational documents, assist with grant administration, update website content, and contribute to conferences and communications.
This makes the position particularly suitable for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, project ownership, and working across different functions.
Key Responsibilities
The Programs & Operations Manager will contribute to several major areas of the organization.
Research Programs and Partnerships
The successful candidate will help manage research studies from initial inquiries through completion. Responsibilities include coordinating timelines, deliverables, communications, and documentation while serving as a key contact for researchers and organizational partners.
The manager will also monitor projects, identify potential challenges, and help ensure research collaborations move forward effectively.
Public Resources and Communications
The role also involves supporting the organization’s public-facing work. This can include maintaining educational and research resources, coordinating website updates, preparing announcements and newsletters, and assisting with conference materials and presentations.
The successful candidate will help ensure that public-facing information remains accurate, accessible, and up to date.
Operations and Organizational Support
A significant part of the position involves improving how the organization operates.
Responsibilities may include developing internal workflows, maintaining documentation, supporting grant reporting and compliance, coordinating vendors and contractors, assisting with board activities, and managing organizational records.
The manager will also be expected to identify operational challenges and develop practical solutions.
What The Many Brains Project Is Looking For
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience, together with at least four years of relevant professional experience.
Relevant backgrounds may include program management, project management, research administration, nonprofit operations, technology project management, or related fields.
Candidates should also have experience independently managing complex projects or workstreams from planning through completion.
Strong organizational and communication skills are important for this role. Applicants should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working independently, communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and adapting when organizational priorities change.
Experience working with research projects involving software, digital tools, or data collection systems would be an advantage.
A Fully Remote Opportunity
One of the major attractions of this position is its fully remote work environment. The role can be performed from anywhere in the United States, although the Eastern Time Zone is preferred.
Employees are expected to be available during the organization’s established core collaboration hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
Applicants must also be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.
Salary and Benefits
The position offers a salary of approximately US$75,000–$95,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
Benefits include:
- Fully remote work
- 22 vacation days
- 11 organization-wide holidays
- One floating holiday
- Two paid personal days
- Eight paid sick days
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching after six months
