Human rights organization HuMENA for Human Rights and Civic Engagement is seeking an experienced Programs Lead to support the coordination, implementation, and operational management of its growing portfolio of human rights and civic engagement programs across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
This full-time remote consultancy offers a unique opportunity for professionals passionate about civic space, human rights advocacy, and organizational development to contribute to impactful work supporting activists, civil society organizations, journalists, and human rights defenders.
About the Role
The Programs Lead will play a central role in strengthening internal systems, project management processes, consultant coordination, donor compliance tracking, and organizational workflows. Working closely with the Executive Director, the successful candidate will help ensure that projects, partnerships, and deliverables are implemented efficiently and effectively.
The position is remote and open to candidates across the MENA region and the Global South, with occasional travel for meetings, missions, and representation activities.
Key Responsibilities
The Programs Lead will oversee several core operational areas, including:
- Project coordination and implementation tracking
- Team and consultant management
- Internal workflow and systems development
- Donor reporting coordination and compliance monitoring
- Advocacy and communications coordination
- Consultant deliverable and payment tracking
The role requires someone capable of turning complex projects into clear systems while ensuring deadlines, responsibilities, and donor obligations are consistently met.
Who Should Apply?

- At least 6 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience working with MENA-focused civil society or human rights organizations
- Proven success developing organizational systems and workflows

- Fluency in Arabic and strong professional English
- Strong remote collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
Experience with grant coordination, donor reporting, digital rights, civic space initiatives, or human rights defender protection is highly desirable.
