Senior Partnerships Officer Africa – Role Overview
The Senior Partnerships Officer Africa will manage a portfolio of approximately five to eight partner organizations. The successful candidate will develop close relationships with partner leadership teams and work alongside them to identify challenges, evaluate performance, and unlock opportunities for growth.
This is a highly hands-on position. Rather than simply providing recommendations, the officer will work directly with organizations to understand operational challenges and develop solutions that improve performance.
Responsibilities include reviewing performance data, tracking progress against agreed milestones, assessing whether partners are on the right trajectory, and making recommendations regarding renewals, scale-ups, or exits.
The role also involves identifying risks early, coordinating targeted support, and ensuring that projects translate into measurable improvements.
Partnerships, Funding and Strategic Support
A major part of this remote partnerships job in Africa involves ecosystem engagement. The Senior Partnerships Officer will monitor developments in target markets, including government reforms, funder priorities, and other initiatives that could affect partner organizations.
The officer will also participate in funding and investment decisions for their portfolio. This requires strong analytical skills and the ability to use data, field insights, and stakeholder perspectives to make informed recommendations.
Successful candidates will also have opportunities to collaborate with other Prevail team members on initiatives that extend beyond individual countries or organizations. These projects may involve bringing together leaders from different partner organizations to develop shared solutions.
Who Can Apply?
Prevail is looking for professionals who have helped organizations grow significantly. Candidates may have experience as an operator, consultant, social entrepreneur, strategist, or a combination of these backgrounds.
Applicants should have at least 10 years of professional experience working in or alongside organizations that have grown significantly.
Strong problem-solving skills are essential. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with senior leadership teams, diagnosing complex challenges, developing practical solutions, and influencing important decisions.
Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders is also valuable. The successful candidate may work with partner organizations, funders, policymakers, and other stakeholders to align objectives and deliver results.
A strong track record of achieving ambitious goals, independent decision-making, relationship building, and working in fast-paced environments will be highly relevant.
Remote Work and Benefits
The position is fully remote within Africa, with up to 25% travel. Prevail also highlights flexibility for employees working across compatible time zones.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary based on experience, skills, and location. Benefits include health insurance and wellness support, a home workspace or co-working stipend, and a learning and development budget.
Employees will also have access to professional development, regular feedback, career progression opportunities, and a flexible leave policy that includes 25 days of paid time off plus public holidays.
Recruitment Process
Prevail’s recruitment process is designed to assess candidates through several stages. These include an initial People Team conversation, a live exercise with a Partnerships Officer, a paid take-home exercise, a hiring manager interview, and a panel interview.
The organization states that candidates will receive feedback throughout the assessment process and may be invited to incorporate that feedback into subsequent stages.
