PEP is looking for a qualified and dedicated Communications Officer 

About the position

PEP is looking for a qualified and dedicated person to join our Communications Team as a full-time Communications Officer for a one-year maternity cover contract. This is a remote-working position.

The Communications Officer works alongside the Director of Communications and the Content Specialist to implement PEP’s communication strategy and increase PEP’s visibility among our target audiences.

Salary is negotiable, according to the level of skills and experience.

Main responsibilities

  • Disseminate, democratize and promote PEP outputs, findings, activities and impact through various platforms
  • Produce communications for, promote and help coordinate PEP events, including Annual Conferences
  • Manage and update the PEP website, including writing and publishing regular news items
  • Coordinate and support social media content creation
  • Evaluate and edit PEP policy briefs
  • Support project teams in preparing their communication materials and activities
  • Draft or proofread all external PEP communications (except research papers)
  • Assist the preparation of new funding proposals (particularly content review and proofreading)
  • Ensure consistent branding across all PEP outputs
  • Any other relevant communications-related tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Communications.
     

Qualifications, experience and skills required

  • A graduate or postgraduate degree in Communications, Mass Media, Journalism, Public Relations, or any other relevant field
    • Science and/or policy communication experience or training would be an advantage
       
  • 5+ years of relevant full-time work experience
     
  • Excellent spoken and written English and intermediate written French
     
  • Excellent editing, proofreading and analytical skills
    • Particularly for making scientific research content accessible to a general audience
       
  • Strong knowledge of website CMS management
    • Experience using Drupal would be preferable
       
  • Proficiency in using InDesign
    • Knowledge of the wider Adobe Creative Cloud suite would be an advantage
       
  • Some experience in conference coordination and organisation
     
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, pro-activeness, and creative problem-solving
     
  • Experience working in policy research, international development, or a related sector is desirable.
