Founded in 2020, Until Justice Data Partners (UJDP) is a growing nonprofit dedicated to research, advocacy, and community-focused data solutions. Rooted in the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing, UJDP believes in the technical and lived experience of grassroots communities. Our mission is to collect, share, and maintain community and institutional datasets that empower local advocacy and enable evidence-based solutions for social and environmental justice.

We collaborate with local, regional, national, and international partners—including academics, policy experts, organizers, lawyers, and technical specialists—to provide free and accessible data tools that drive social progress. Our ongoing projects include FencelineData.org, and we support community engagement through platforms like Nextcloud and the 1984 hosting server.

Position Overview
UJDP seeks a Technology Specialist / Technological Director to oversee its information systems, lead tech support and project development, and work closely with community partners. This remote, U.S.-based role offers an opportunity to shape the organization’s technological infrastructure while expanding the reach and impact of its data-driven programs.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, independent thinker with strong planning, communication, and relationship-building skills. They will play a key role in expanding the technological team, supporting UJDP’s projects, and ensuring that community partners have reliable, secure, and accessible data tools.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Project Management

• Oversee UJDP’s information systems solutions, identifying and integrating new technologies as needed.
• Serve as webmaster and technical lead for UJDP platforms, including the website, Nextcloud, and the 1984 server.
• Participate in the FencelineData.org Project Management Committee (PMC), representing UJDP’s technological interests and deliverables.
• Collaborate with other PMC members and UJDP staff to maintain technical stability, performance, and project oversight.
• Assist in knowledge transfer and transition processes for technology projects, particularly those previously managed by partners such as DataKind.
• Maintain clear communication with community partners to ensure secure, reliable, and accessible project tools.

Community Engagement & Collaboration

• Work with community groups and partners to create secure, accessible data spaces on UJDP platforms.
• Support end users, respond to inquiries, and ensure smooth operation of technical tools.
• Partner with the Director of Development and Strategic Planning to align technology initiatives with fundraising and organizational goals.
• Foster a collaborative environment, supporting UJDP staff and partners in adopting and leveraging technology for advocacy and research.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in technology, computer science, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborative work environments, preferably in nonprofit or community-focused organizations.
• Strong technical project management skills, with the ability to oversee complex initiatives independently.
• Proficiency with web platforms, server management, and cloud-based collaboration tools (Nextcloud, 1984 server, WordPress, or similar).
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with partners, staff, and community members.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining team collaboration and accountability.
• Strong community engagement, partnership-building, and problem-solving abilities.
• Openness to continuous learning and adapting to emerging technological needs.
• Familiarity with social justice principles, grassroots organizing, and equitable data practices is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly pay: $40/hour, with potential for increases as funding allows.
