Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is seeking qualified freelance translators for an exciting consultancy opportunity supporting projects related to Sudan. Overview of the Translator Consultancy

MiCT is looking for a professional Freelance Translator (Arabic/English) to support ongoing projects connected to Sudan. The successful candidate will provide high-quality translation and interpretation services, ensuring accurate communication between English-speaking and Arabic-speaking stakeholders.

The role requires excellent language skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate sensitive project materials while maintaining the original meaning and context.

This opportunity is suitable for translators with experience in humanitarian, development, media, or international cooperation settings.

Key Responsibilities

The selected freelance translator will be responsible for:

  • Translating surveys from English into Arabic.
  • Translating project reports, documents, and communication materials from English into Arabic.
  • Translating interview responses from Arabic into English.
  • Providing simultaneous interpretation during meetings, interviews, and training sessions when required.
  • Ensuring translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and professionally written.
  • Supporting effective communication among project teams, partners, and participants.

The translator will be expected to deliver high-quality work while meeting agreed deadlines and maintaining confidentiality.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have strong professional translation experience and excellent written and spoken communication skills in both Arabic and English.

Professional Translation Experience

Applicants must have extensive experience providing translation services, including translating reports, interviews, surveys, and professional documents.

Understanding of Journalism and Media Terminology

Knowledge of journalism, press freedom, communications, and media-related terminology is highly desirable, as the consultancy will support projects connected to media and information sharing.

NGO and Humanitarian Sector Experience

Previous experience working with NGOs, international NGOs, humanitarian organisations, or development programmes will be an advantage.
