About the Operations Lead Role
The Operations Lead – Legal Services is a newly created position focused on improving the operational systems that support high-quality legal services.
Working closely with staff across the Legal Services Directorate, the successful candidate will develop efficient processes, strengthen governance, improve technology adoption and drive continuous operational improvement.
This position is offered on a full-time contract until August 2028 using a hybrid working model based in Melbourne CBD.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will oversee several important operational functions, including:
Operational Performance and Governance
- Develop systems that strengthen operational governance.
- Improve communication and information sharing across Legal Services.
- Coordinate induction and onboarding processes for new employees.
- Support operational discipline and accountability throughout the directorate.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and operational inefficiencies.
- Design practical systems that improve service delivery.
- Introduce automation and scalable operational processes where appropriate.
Technology Enablement
- Support staff in using legal practice management systems effectively.
- Develop learning resources for technology platforms.
- Work closely with IT providers and internal teams to improve digital tools and system integrations.
Who Should Apply?
Women’s Legal Service Victoria is seeking an experienced operations professional who enjoys improving processes while building strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
Ideal candidates will have:
- At least four years of operations experience in legal services, professional services or community organisations.
- Strong operational planning and organisational skills.
- Experience designing and implementing efficient systems and processes.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Confidence using digital platforms, including practice management software and SharePoint.
- Experience with process mapping, workflow optimisation and organisational change.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Previous experience working within a legal services environment is considered highly desirable.
Salary and Benefits

- Annual salary: AUD $109,826–$114,805
