Lafiya Is Hiring a People Operations Manager for a Fully Remote Global Role | Apply by 6 July 2026

Professionals with experience in human resources, talent acquisition, and people operations have an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing global health nonprofit making a significant impact across underserved communities. Lafiya is currently recruiting a People Operations Manager to help lead its recruitment and HR functions as the organization expands its operations and scales its impact across multiple geographies.

This fully remote position can be performed from anywhere in the world, offering a unique opportunity for HR professionals who are passionate about social impact, organizational growth, and improving access to reproductive healthcare. Applications close on 6 July 2026, with the successful candidate expected to begin work on 17 August 2026.

About Lafiya

Lafiya is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to making contraception accessible to women in hard-to-reach communities. Through a network of trained female health professionals known as Lafiya Sisters, the organization delivers contraceptive products, information, and support directly to underserved populations. Operating primarily in northern Nigeria, Lafiya currently manages a network of approximately 480 Lafiya Sisters and has supported more than 650,000 women through its innovative community-based approach.

Beyond community outreach, the organization is strengthening healthcare supply chains and collaborating with government stakeholders to develop sustainable financing solutions for contraceptive access. As the nonprofit continues to grow, it is preparing for expansion into additional countries, making talent acquisition and people management more important than ever.

A Strategic Role During a Period of Growth

The People Operations Manager will play a central role in supporting Lafiya’s transition from a startup to a scale-up organization. Reporting within the Operations Team, the successful candidate will become the first team member dedicated entirely to human resources and recruitment functions.

The role combines strategic recruitment leadership with core HR responsibilities. Approximately 70 percent of the position focuses on recruitment activities, while the remaining 30 percent is dedicated to human resources management. This balance provides a unique opportunity for professionals who enjoy both talent acquisition and employee experience initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The recruitment component of the role involves managing end-to-end hiring processes for both international and Nigeria-based staff. The successful candidate will oversee candidate pipelines, improve hiring procedures, support hiring managers, and ensure recruitment practices remain evidence-based and effective.

Additional recruitment responsibilities include:

  • Developing and improving hiring standard operating procedures.
  • Building workforce and headcount planning strategies.
  • Managing candidate communications throughout recruitment processes.
  • Creating systems that improve talent sourcing and selection outcomes.

On the human resources side, the People Operations Manager will oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, administer HR systems, coordinate performance review cycles, and support compensation and benefits planning. The position also serves as a key point of contact for employee-related inquiries and organizational policies.

Who Should Apply?

Lafiya is seeking candidates with a strong combination of recruitment expertise, HR experience, and organizational development skills. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree and possess between five and nine years of relevant experience in people operations, recruitment, human resources, or related fields.

Ideal candidates will have experience managing multiple recruitment processes simultaneously while also handling HR responsibilities such as onboarding, policy development, performance management, HR information systems, or compensation planning. Experience working within nonprofits, international development organizations, INGOs, or mission-driven startups is particularly valuable.

The organization is especially interested in professionals who are evidence-driven, proactive, highly organized, and comfortable designing systems and processes from the ground up. Experience recruiting across Sub-Saharan Africa and familiarity with international hiring practices are considered strong advantages.

Benefits and Professional Growth

Lafiya offers an attractive benefits package designed to support employee wellbeing and flexibility. Successful candidates will receive 30 days of paid annual leave, 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities to collaborate closely with experienced organizational leaders. Visa sponsorship may also be available where required.

Perhaps most importantly, the role offers substantial opportunities for professional growth. As Lafiya continues expanding into new regions, the People Operations Manager will have the chance to shape organizational culture, build systems that support long-term success, and potentially grow into a future leadership position overseeing a dedicated human resources department.

Making an Impact Beyond Human Resources

This opportunity goes far beyond traditional HR management. Every successful hire contributes directly to Lafiya’s ability to deliver reproductive healthcare services to women who might otherwise lack access to critical information and products. By helping build and retain a high-performing team, the People Operations Manager will play a direct role in advancing health outcomes and empowering communities.

For experienced HR and recruitment professionals seeking meaningful work within a rapidly growing international nonprofit, this role offers the chance to combine career growth with social impact while working from anywhere in the world. Applications remain open until 6 July 2026.
