Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Safety and Security Coordinator plays a central role in delivering advisory and consultancy services to at-risk clients. The position combines technical expertise, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
Consultancy, Advisory, and Peer Support (50%)
- Lead delivery of safety and security support across selected projects and rapid response cases.
- Mentor and support consultants working on security assignments.
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across ongoing cases.
- Contribute to organisational resources, tools, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Business Development and Administration (25%)
- Conduct introductory calls with prospective nonprofit and foundation clients.
- Develop tailored proposals aligned with client needs and organisational objectives.
- Support administrative processes, including contracting and invoicing.
Organisational Support (25%)
- Assist with travel risk management and staff safety preparations.
- Contribute to the development and revision of policies and procedures.
- Act as a link between programme and operational teams.
- Support staff learning and development initiatives and planning.
Candidate Profile and Skills
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong combination of field experience, technical knowledge, and interpersonal skills. Key requirements include:
- At least five years of relevant experience working with activists, communities, or international nonprofits.
- Strong expertise in security risk management, including protection strategies and high-risk environments.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Experience in consultancy or client-facing roles.
- Sensitivity to rights-based approaches and diverse stakeholder contexts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Additional desirable qualifications include:
- Proficiency in French or Arabic.
- Experience in coaching or mentoring roles.
- Knowledge of digital security and psychosocial aspects of holistic security.
