This role focuses on creating self-paced digital learning materials that will help Afghan returnees strengthen their skills, rebuild confidence, and improve their employment prospects.

Project Overview: R2R – Zindagi Taza

The consultancy role is part of the R2R – Zindagi Taza project, which focuses on supporting Afghan nationals who have returned to Afghanistan from European countries.

Many returnees face serious reintegration challenges, including:

  • Limited professional networks
  • Financial pressures and debt
  • Social stigma after returning
  • Mental health and emotional stress

To address these issues, the project includes a Livelihood Hub, a structured training programme designed to help participants rebuild confidence, develop new skills, and explore sustainable income opportunities.

Role Overview

The Online Course Content Developer will lead the adaptation of existing in-person training materials into interactive digital modules hosted on the Seefar Academy learning platform.

  • Duration: 2 months (April–May 2026)
  • Budget: €5,000 – €6,000 depending on experience

The developer will collaborate with project teams, graphic designers, and technical staff to ensure the course content is engaging, culturally relevant, and accessible.

The Livelihood Hub Curriculum

The Livelihood Hub programme currently consists of five core modules, delivered in person in Kabul over a 48-day training schedule. These modules are now being adapted into a self-paced online course to reach a broader audience.

The online course will be available in both English and Farsi/Dari, enabling access for Afghan learners within the country and abroad.

Key Course Modules

1. Confidence in Action

This module focuses on building self-confidence and motivation through the concept of the “confidence-action cycle.” Participants learn how positive habits, motivation, and goal-setting influence personal success and resilience.

2. Adaptive Counselling

This mental health literacy module introduces psychological concepts in an accessible way. Topics include:

  • Understanding emotional distress
  • Addressing mental health stigma
  • Building self-esteem
  • Managing trauma
  • Developing healthier thinking patterns

The module uses storytelling, reflection exercises, and real-life case studies.

3. IT and Computer Skills

This module develops digital literacy skills, covering essential topics such as:

  • Computer hardware and software basics
  • Operating systems like Windows and Mac
  • Internet navigation and email use
  • Productivity tools including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Digital safety practices

The course uses a friendly, mascot-led approach to keep learners engaged.

4. Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurship module helps participants explore opportunities for self-employment and small business development.

Participants learn about:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and innovation
  • Market analysis
  • Business planning and financial management
  • Basic marketing strategies

The module encourages learners to develop their own simple business ideas.

5. Entering the Workforce

This module focuses on job readiness and employment skills, helping participants navigate the job search process.

  • Writing CVs and cover letters
  • Job search strategies
  • Interview preparation
  • Professional communication

Participants complete exercises and earn rewards through a gamified learning structure.

Responsibilities of the Content Developer

The selected consultant will be responsible for transforming existing training materials into interactive online learning modules.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing the full online curriculum structure
  • Adapting existing training materials into digital learning modules
  • Creating interactive elements such as:
    • quizzes
    • reflection prompts
    • videos
    • knowledge checks
  • Collaborating with graphic designers and technical teams
  • Testing and optimizing course content on the platform
  • Ensuring accessibility for learners with limited digital experience

The course must remain engaging, learner – centred , and culturally appropriate for Afghan returnees.

Key Deliverables

The consultant will be expected to deliver several major outputs during the two-month project.

These include:

  • A course architecture document outlining learning objectives and module structure
  • Fully developed online course content in English
  • A Farsi/Dari-ready version of the course or translation-ready content
  • A testing and quality assurance report
  • A platform specifications document
  • A low-bandwidth accessibility plan to support learners with limited internet access

These deliverables ensure the course remains accessible and functional even in challenging connectivity environments.

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants should have experience in instructional design and online learning development.

Essential qualifications include:

  • At least three years of experience in curriculum design or e-learning development
  • Experience transforming training materials into online or blended learning courses
  • Familiarity with learning management systems
  • Strong ability to simplify complex information into engaging content
  • Experience working with designers or multimedia teams
  • Excellent written English skills

Strong Farsi/Dari writing ability is highly preferred.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Candidates may stand out if they also have:

  • Experience in humanitarian or development programs
