Treatment Action Group (TAG) is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and experienced Grant Officer to join its team in a full-time, remote capacity. This role is integral to advancing TAG’s mission of ending HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis C virus (HCV) epidemics through research, policy advocacy, and community engagement. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Grant Officer will lead grant initiatives, manage donor and grant systems, coordinate reporting, and provide research and data support to inform TAG’s funding efforts.

TAG is an independent, activist, and community-driven research and policy think tank committed to social justice, equity, and liberation, with particular focus on racial, gender, and LGBTQ+ equity. For over 34 years, TAG has advocated for effective policies and research to combat HIV, TB, and HCV while emphasizing community engagement and inclusivity. Position Overview

The Grant Officer will oversee TAG’s grants portfolio, ensuring the organization maintains, expands, and strengthens its funding streams. This position combines grant writing, reporting, donor database management, fundraising support, and communications, requiring a candidate who is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in public health, research, or advocacy, preferably with experience in HIV, TB, HCV, or related global health issues. Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Grants Management

  • Lead all grant-related efforts, including writing, reviewing, and submitting proposals.
  • Maintain grant systems, including file storage, grant calendars, and funder portals.
  • Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities and evaluate potential prospects.
  • Coordinate grant reporting by gathering programmatic and financial data and ensuring timely submission in compliance with funder requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a catalog of program information for current and future grant proposals.
  • Provide support as requested by the COO, Executive Director, and program or policy directors.

Fundraising Support

  • Handle data entry, gift acknowledgment, and grant-related communications in coordination with administrative staff and finance teams.
  • Maintain and manage TAG’s CRM system (currently Salsa CRM), ensuring data accuracy, cleaning, and analysis of donor records.
  • Research donor prospects, analyzing giving history and capacity to inform fundraising strategies.
  • Support regular giving campaigns, fundraising events, and other development initiatives.

Communications and Collaboration

  • Assist with grant-related communications, including social media campaigns and digital outreach as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings, calls, and briefings related to grants and fundraising.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to ensure alignment between programmatic work and funding narratives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum two years of professional experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or grant management.
  • Grant writing experience, ideally related to public health, HIV, TB, or HCV.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including research and technical writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and donor CRM systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in domestic and global public health or advocacy organizations.
  • Familiarity with advocacy, policy making, and lived experiences related to TAG’s mission.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in professional settings.

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year, dependent on experience.
