Remote/Hybrid Opportunity: Geneva Centre for Security Policy Seeks Social Media Officer to Support Global Humanitarian Initiative – Deadline 20 Aug 2026

The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is offering an exciting opportunity for a creative communications professional to join the Geneva Conventions’ World Tour (GCWT) as a Social Media Officer. This part-time, 12-month position is designed for an experienced digital communications specialist who is passionate about international humanitarian law, public engagement, and using online platforms to create meaningful global impact.

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to a historic initiative focused on raising awareness of the Geneva Conventions and strengthening public understanding of their importance in protecting humanity during times of conflict.

About the Geneva Conventions’ World Tour Initiative

The Geneva Conventions remain one of the most important foundations of international humanitarian law (IHL), establishing essential rules designed to protect civilians, wounded soldiers, medical personnel, and others affected by armed conflicts. However, these principles face growing challenges due to violations, limited enforcement mechanisms, and declining public awareness.

The Geneva Conventions’ World Tour aims to address this challenge by bringing global attention back to these vital humanitarian principles. The initiative will create a worldwide movement involving communities, universities, civil society organisations, professional groups, and young people.

Through symbolic torches travelling across different regions, the project will encourage public conversations about humanity, peace, and the responsibility of protecting international humanitarian standards. In locations where physical travel may not be possible, virtual activities will help ensure global participation.

The initiative will also include public events, artistic activities, media campaigns, educational programmes, and a documentary film highlighting the history and journey of the Geneva Conventions’ World Tour.

Social Media Officer Role: Build a Global Digital Movement

The Geneva Conventions’ World Tour is seeking a Social Media Officer who can develop and manage its online presence from the ground up. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating digital campaigns that inspire awareness, engagement, and support for international humanitarian law.

Working under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator, the Social Media Officer will combine strategic planning with practical content creation. The position requires someone who understands how to transform complex humanitarian and legal topics into accessible, engaging stories for global audiences.

The officer will contribute to communication strategies, manage social media platforms, create multimedia content, and strengthen online communities supporting the project.

Key Responsibilities of the Social Media Officer

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing social media campaigns that promote the Geneva Conventions’ World Tour across various platforms.

Key duties include:

The role requires creativity, strong judgement, and the ability to communicate sensitive issues responsibly in a fast-changing digital environment.

Who Can Apply?
