Overview of the Associate Partner, Teaching Reimagined Role

The Associate Partner will support NewSchools’ mission by helping grow the field of organizations focused on redesigning teaching and improving educator experiences.

Working remotely from anywhere in the United States, the Associate Partner will:

  • Identify promising education innovators.
  • Build relationships with education leaders and organizations.
  • Support investment decisions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to venture leaders.
  • Contribute to strategies that strengthen the future of teaching.

The role reports to the Senior Partner, Teaching Reimagined, and requires up to 25% travel for team meetings, retreats, and conferences.

Key Responsibilities of the Associate Partner

Building the Teaching Reimagined Field

The Associate Partner will help expand the network of organizations working to transform teaching by:

  • Contributing insights on emerging trends and opportunities in education.
  • Translating strategy and research into clear priorities for potential partners.
  • Developing relationships with innovators and practitioners.
  • Identifying organizations aligned with NewSchools’ investment goals.
  • Monitoring developments in education talent systems.

Managing Investment and Grant-Making Processes

The role involves supporting NewSchools’ venture philanthropy approach through:

  • Identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities.
  • Conducting research on education organizations and market needs.
  • Leading selection and due diligence processes.
  • Developing evidence-based investment recommendations.
  • Tracking portfolio impact and outcomes.
  • Managing grant-making processes from start to completion.

Coaching Education Leaders

The Associate Partner will also support venture leaders by:

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to education entrepreneurs and organizations.
  • Helping leaders strengthen their strategies and operations.
  • Supporting learning experiences and communities of practice.
  • Developing resources and tools to help organizations scale their impact.

Supporting Team Strategy and Culture

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Analyzing qualitative and quantitative portfolio data.
  • Identifying patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Supporting evolving team priorities.

Required Experience and Qualifications

NewSchools is seeking candidates with significant experience in education leadership and innovation.

Applicants should have:

  • At least eight years of experience in K–12 public education.
  • At least five years of experience working in schools as an educator or school leader.
  • Experience with education talent systems and educator role redesign is preferred.
  • Experience making investment, funding, or major resource allocation decisions is preferred.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong understanding of K–12 education networks.
  • Ability to analyze complex challenges and develop strategic solutions.
