Organization Overview:
The Girls’ Network (TGN) is a national charity dedicated to inspiring and empowering girls from disadvantaged communities across England. By connecting girls aged 14–19 with professional women role models and volunteer mentors, TGN supports them in building confidence, self-worth, and skills to achieve their ambitions.
In addition to one-to-one mentoring, TGN delivers group mentoring, workshops, and offers access to an Ambassador Community for continued development and networking. Operating in regions including London, Merseyside, Portsmouth, Southampton, Sussex, Tees Valley, Tyne & Wear, and the West Midlands, TGN serves approximately 1,000 girls annually.
Role Overview:
The National Programmes Manager is responsible for leading and managing a geographically dispersed team of Programme Facilitators to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of TGN’s programmes nationwide. Reporting to the Head of Programmes and Impact, the post-holder drives programme performance, embeds best practice, and ensures robust safeguarding measures for children and young people. This role combines people leadership, operational oversight, and strategic partnership development to enhance programme impact and contribute to organisational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Performance and People Management:
- Lead, support, and manage a remote team of Programme Facilitators through regular supervision, one-to-ones, appraisals, and training.
- Drive team performance, ensuring delivery of KPIs and organisational objectives.
- Support professional growth and wellbeing of staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, cross-regional collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
- Provide hands-on support with programme delivery as required and deliver targeted training.
2. Safeguarding and Risk Management:
- Serve as a first point of contact for day-to-day safeguarding issues, escalating concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer/Lead.
- Monitor and mitigate risks for young people in TGN programmes.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with organisational safeguarding policies.
3. Programme Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation:
- Oversee operational delivery of core programmes to maintain quality and consistency.
- Monitor Programme Facilitators’ KPIs and operational performance.
- Ensure accurate collection and management of participant data through Salesforce for monitoring, evaluation, and reporting purposes.
- Analyse and report programme impact regionally and nationally to inform organisational strategy and stakeholder reporting.
4. Strategic and Partnership Development:
- Develop relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, colleges, Local Authorities, Multi-Academy Trusts, and Combined Authorities, to expand programme reach.
- Support volunteer recruitment pipelines and corporate partnerships aligned with organisational objectives.
- Champion TGN’s mission and represent the organisation at events, awareness campaigns, and strategic meetings.
- Contribute to programme design and improvement through youth feedback, focus groups, and case studies.
5. New Workstreams:
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives and new programme development to meet organisational priorities and support professional growth opportunities.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Experience in the charity or education sector, with knowledge of mentoring programmes or youth services.
- Proven ability to lead remote or dispersed teams, manage performance, and deliver programme objectives.
- Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders, balancing internal and external priorities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organisational, and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in digital tools, collaboration platforms, and social media.
- Willingness to travel to regions several times a year and work flexible hours as required.
- Passion for addressing challenges faced by girls and young women from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Desirable:
- Experience in workshop facilitation and staff training.
- Programme management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, AgilePM) or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of statutory and education sector frameworks.
- Familiarity with safe and inclusive volunteer recruitment practices.
- Direct experience working with young people and volunteers.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and childhood resilience models.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
Employment Details:
- Location: Remote/Hybrid (with travel across England)
- Salary: £37,000 per annum
- Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
- Reporting to: Head of Programmes and Impact
- Direct reports: Up to 8 Programme Facilitators
