About the M&E Manager Role
The M&E Manager is a newly established role within NEAR’s Learning Team. The position is designed to strengthen the organization’s monitoring, evaluation, and data management capacity as its programmes and grant portfolio continue to expand.
Reporting to the Learning Director, the successful candidate will focus on developing robust monitoring systems, managing survey data, maintaining indicator frameworks, and producing evidence that demonstrates NEAR’s impact to donors and stakeholders.
The role complements the Learning Manager by providing the technical foundation that supports organizational learning and results measurement.
Key Responsibilities
The M&E Manager will lead the development and maintenance of monitoring and evaluation systems across the organization.
Core responsibilities include:
- Designing and managing member and stakeholder surveys.
- Cleaning, analysing, and interpreting quantitative data.
- Developing dashboards and data visualizations.
- Maintaining indicator frameworks across multiple programmes.
- Tracking progress against donor commitments and organisational objectives.
- Conducting data quality assessments and identifying information gaps.
- Supporting monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks for donor-funded programmes.
- Maintaining data management protocols and documentation.
- Contributing evidence and results for NEAR’s Annual Report.
The role also involves collaborating closely with programme teams to ensure data supports learning, accountability, and strategic decision-making.
Required Skills and Experience
NEAR is seeking an experienced monitoring and evaluation professional with strong quantitative and technical skills.
Essential qualifications include:
- Extensive experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).
- Strong quantitative data analysis, statistical summarisation, and data cleaning skills.
- Experience designing and managing surveys using platforms such as SurveyMonkey or similar tools.
- Expertise in indicator framework development and results tracking.
- Ability to create dashboards and data visualisations for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience using Asana or comparable project management platforms.
- Strong documentation and data management skills.
- Ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Commitment to locally led development and Global South leadership.
