This role focuses on producing high-impact multimedia content, including investigative films, photography, audio productions, and motion graphics, to raise awareness of human rights violations worldwide.
The Multimedia Associate will also play a pivotal role in empowering human rights defenders and affected communities by facilitating training and workshops on effective multimedia strategies. Key Responsibilities of the Multimedia Associate
The Multimedia Associate’s responsibilities are diverse and central to Fortify Rights’ mission. These include:
- Multimedia Production: Creating, filming, and editing high-quality films, photography, motion graphics, and audio content for online and offline distribution.
- Human Rights Investigations: Supporting investigations into human rights violations and transforming research findings into compelling multimedia presentations.
- Content Development: Leading scriptwriting, storyboarding, and caption development to ensure accurate and engaging storytelling aligned with international human rights law.
- Media Coordination: Preparing multimedia packages for press and public events, including footage, photographs, and other materials.
- Community Engagement: Conducting workshops and participatory trainings for human rights defenders and affected communities to strengthen multimedia communication skills.
- Translation and Interpretation: Assisting with the translation of documents, interview transcripts, and publications as needed.
- Development Support: Contributing to fundraising, monitoring, and evaluation activities, and supporting project tracking and reporting.
- Team Collaboration: Working closely with colleagues to ensure organizational effectiveness and impact.

Required Qualifications and Skills
Fortify Rights is looking for candidates with a mix of technical expertise, creative thinking, and a strong understanding of human rights issues. Key qualifications include:
- Educational Background: A degree in multimedia, communications, journalism, or related fields, or comparable professional experience.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, film production, photography, audio editing, motion graphics, and storyboarding.
- Human Rights Knowledge: Familiarity with international human rights law, human rights research, and advocacy practices, ideally within South/Southeast Asia or Eastern Europe.
- Professional Experience: Experience producing multimedia content for human rights or journalism contexts. Basic knowledge of animation is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, creativity, time management, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
- Languages and Travel: Fluency in English is required, with additional languages considered an asset. Candidates must be willing to travel to remote or challenging locations.
