The SPARC Safeguarding Implementation Lead will play a key role in transforming safeguarding commitments into practical actions across MSF offices, operational teams, and international platforms.

Overview of the SPARC Safeguarding Implementation Lead Role

The SPARC Safeguarding Implementation Lead will support the International Safeguarding Coordinator in driving the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of MSF’s safeguarding priorities.

The position focuses on ensuring that safeguarding becomes an integrated part of MSF’s daily operations, systems, and organizational culture.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating implementation of MSF’s safeguarding strategic initiatives.
• Developing practical safeguarding tools, frameworks, and implementation resources.
• Monitoring progress against safeguarding objectives.
• Supporting accountability and learning processes.
• Strengthening collaboration between different MSF departments and operational teams.
• Promoting survivor-centred and trauma-informed approaches.

The successful candidate will help ensure that safeguarding standards are consistently applied across MSF’s global movement.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

The SPARC Safeguarding Implementation Lead will be responsible for managing complex safeguarding initiatives and supporting organizational change.

Main duties include:

Leading Safeguarding Implementation

The role will translate MSF’s safeguarding ambitions into measurable plans, milestones, and deliverables.

Responsibilities include:

• Creating implementation plans aligned with safeguarding goals.
• Tracking progress across MSF offices and operational centres.
• Developing guidance materials and operational resources.
• Reporting implementation updates to relevant stakeholders.

Supporting Safeguarding Culture Change

The position will help integrate safeguarding into organizational systems and workplace practices.

The role will support:

• Leadership engagement on safeguarding responsibilities.
• Integration of safeguarding into workforce processes.
• Collaboration with human resources, medical teams, operations, and diversity teams.
• Increased awareness of safeguarding obligations among staff.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning

The successful candidate will also lead monitoring and knowledge-sharing activities.

This includes:

• Developing reports, dashboards, and presentations.
• Identifying safeguarding risks and implementation gaps.
• Supporting evaluations and reviews.
• Sharing lessons learned and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Applicants should have strong experience in safeguarding, protection, humanitarian work, or related fields.

The ideal candidate should have:

• A master’s degree in a relevant area such as international law or human rights, or a bachelor’s degree combined with significant safeguarding experience.
• At least three years of experience implementing safeguarding initiatives in operational or country programme settings.
• Experience working in humanitarian organizations is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding risks and prevention approaches.
• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation practices.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Experience with MSF is considered an advantage.
