About MENA Rights Group
MENA Rights Group is a Geneva-based legal advocacy NGO focused on protecting and promoting fundamental rights and freedoms in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Adopting a holistic approach, we work at both the individual and structural level. We provide legal counseling to victims of human rights violations through recourse to international law mechanisms and assess the human rights situation on the ground. We bring key issues to the attention of relevant stakeholders to advocate for legal and policy reforms.
Our team is small but dynamic, driven by a shared passion for advancing human rights in the MENA region. We aim to create lasting change through strategic advocacy and public engagement.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Media and Campaigning Officer to help us build our brand, enhance our visibility, and implement our media strategy in support of advocacy efforts for human rights in the MENA region. You will need to be creative, adaptable, and driven by a passion for impactful communication that advocates for human rights.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Communications Strategy, Implementation, and Processes: Oversee and implement our communications strategy, ensuring the development of consistent guidelines and processes to maintain a strong brand identity across all platforms.
- Digital Communications: Manage and develop our digital communications platforms, including our website, social media channels, and newsletters, with the goal of increasing engagement and visibility.
- Campaigns & Events: Conceptualize and implement advocacy campaigns, and support the organization of public events to raise awareness.
- Content & Multimedia Production: Create compelling written materials (e.g., victim profiles, press releases, annual reports) and multimedia content (e.g., graphics, short videos). Edit and proofread to ensure clarity and consistency in storytelling.
- Media Outreach: Develop relationships with journalists and pitch stories that highlight key human rights issues in the MENA region.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track performance indicators to ensure maximum impact. Prepare reports on media coverage, campaign performance, and audience engagement.
Required Skills and Qualities
To succeed in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and qualities:
- Demonstrated interest in human rights in the MENA region.
- University degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science, international relations, or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience, ideally in an NGO or working on human rights issues.
- Excellent English drafting and editing skills, along with full oral and written proficiency in Arabic. Knowledge of French is a plus.
- Graphic design and short video editing skills to produce high-quality, engaging content.
- Proactive and self-organized with the ability to take ownership and work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a small, multicultural team.
