Role Overview
The MEL Lead will play a critical role in strengthening the organization’s impact measurement, learning culture, and strategic decision-making. Working within Trase’s Impact Team, the successful candidate will lead efforts to evaluate how data and insights influence real-world decisions across sectors.
This role combines strategy development, monitoring, evaluation, and learning leadership, making it ideal for candidates with experience in sustainability programs and evidence-based planning.
Key Responsibilities
The role is structured across three main areas:
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Strategy (20%)
- Lead the development and implementation of MEL strategies and annual work plans
- Ensure quality and consistency of MEL inputs across teams
- Maintain and improve data collection and knowledge management systems
- Support integration of MEL into organizational strategy and theory of change
Monitoring and Reporting (30%)
- Strengthen monitoring frameworks to better capture outcomes and impact
- Integrate qualitative approaches such as change stories and outcome harvesting
- Produce quarterly internal reports on progress and performance
- Support donor reporting and update results frameworks
Evaluation and Learning (50%)
- Oversee external evaluations and internal reviews
- Facilitate learning sessions and retrospectives across teams
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing
- Translate insights into actionable recommendations for strategy and planning
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate is a results-driven MEL professional with strong analytical and communication skills.
Essential qualifications include:
- Proven experience in developing and delivering MEL frameworks
- Strong ability to turn complex data into clear, compelling insights
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working in sustainability, environmental, or development programs
Desirable skills:
- Experience in international or multicultural environments
- Knowledge of human rights or environmental sustainability projects
- Additional language skills such as Spanish, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesian, or Mandarin
Salary and Benefits
The MEL Lead position offers a competitive compensation package:
- Salary: £55,000 per year (UK benchmark)
- Salaries in Brazil and Switzerland are adjusted to local standards
