Overview of the MEAL Junior Officer Role
The MEAL Junior Officer will support CESVI’s headquarters MEAL team by helping manage programme data, maintain reporting systems, and provide technical assistance to country offices.
The position reports to the MEAL Senior Officer and works closely with MEAL Regional Advisors, country-level MEAL teams, and programme staff.
The role can be performed from CESVI’s headquarters or remotely from home. However, approximately 50% of working time may involve missions to CESVI countries of operation. The organization may also request participation in meetings, training sessions, or events held at its offices in Bergamo and Milan.
Key Responsibilities of the Position
The MEAL Junior Officer will contribute to several important areas, including:
Data Management and Consolidation
The officer will support the collection, cleaning, organization, and consolidation of MEAL-related data from different country programmes.
Key activities include:
- Reviewing and organizing programme data.
- Supporting global reporting processes.
- Ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Preparing information for organizational decision-making.
Dashboard Development and Maintenance
The role involves supporting data visualization and performance tracking through digital dashboards.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping develop and update Excel and Power BI dashboards.
- Tracking global project indicators.
- Supporting teams in monitoring programme achievements.
Technical Support for Digital Data Collection
The MEAL Junior Officer will provide first-level technical assistance to country teams using digital monitoring tools.
Tasks include:
- Supporting the creation of data collection forms using KoBo Toolbox and ODK.
- Troubleshooting database challenges.
- Assisting teams with basic digital monitoring solutions.
Reporting and Capacity Building Support
The position will assist with improving reporting quality and strengthening MEAL capacity among field teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing monitoring and evaluation reports.
- Checking data completeness and accuracy.
- Supporting preparation of training materials and webinars.
- Assisting senior MEAL colleagues with staff learning initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills Required
CESVI is seeking candidates with academic and professional backgrounds related to data, research, and international development.
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, or a related discipline.
- Between one and two years of experience, including internships, in monitoring, evaluation, or data management.
- Experience working in nonprofit or humanitarian settings is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data cleaning and analysis.
- Familiarity with KoBo Toolbox, ODK, or similar mobile data collection platforms.
- Understanding of Project Cycle Management and logical frameworks.
Candidates should also demonstrate:

- Professional English language proficiency.
