Internship Overview

The MEAL Internship is housed within the Programs and Sponsorship Department and reports to the Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning Manager.

This hybrid internship position is designed for graduates who are passionate about data management, project monitoring, accountability systems, and organizational learning. The successful candidate will support program teams and implementing partners in strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems while promoting knowledge sharing and evidence-based decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will gain hands-on experience across several MEAL functions, including:

Results-Based Management

Key duties include:

• Supporting annual project reviews and reflection sessions.
• Assisting in analyzing project data and performance trends.
• Ensuring data quality, secure storage, and compliance with privacy standards.
• Supporting evaluations, assessments, and research activities.
• Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.

Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)

The selected intern will help strengthen accountability mechanisms by:

• Supporting Complaints Feedback and Response Mechanisms (CFRM/CFM).
• Receiving, organizing, and categorizing community feedback.
• Following up on complaints and referrals with relevant departments.
• Participating in community awareness sessions on accountability channels.

Knowledge Management and Learning

The internship also provides valuable exposure to organizational learning initiatives, including:

• Assisting in compiling monthly and quarterly MEAL reports.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree graduate from the class of 2025 or final-year student.
• Academic background in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Information Science, Knowledge Management, or a related field.
• Between six and twelve months of experience through internships, volunteering, research projects, or NGO-related activities.
• Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Basic understanding of project management and monitoring and evaluation concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Swahili.
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with digital data collection platforms such as Kobo Collect, CommCare, or ODK.
• High integrity and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
