Rethinking Economics International (REI) is hiring a Communications Lead: 4 days per week

Communications Lead – Rethinking Economics International
Rethinking Economics International (REI) is hiring a Communications Lead to play a central role in shaping the voice, systems, and storytelling of a growing global movement for better economics.
This is a part-time role (4 days per week), with openness to a job-share arrangement (two candidates sharing 4–5 days combined). The position is ideal for someone who brings creativity, strategic thinking, and strong organisational skills to a small, mission-driven, remote team.
Founded in 2012, Rethinking Economics began as a student movement and has grown into an international network of students, academics, and professionals working to transform how economics is taught and practiced—so it better serves people and the planet.
2026 is a pivotal year for REI, with the launch of a new individual membership model, major governance changes, and the rollout of an exciting new brand and website.
As Communications Lead, you will be the primary voice of Rethinking Economics, responsible for both day-to-day communications and the development of new systems that support a changing organisation. You will manage social media channels, newsletters, website content, press relationships, and email journeys, while also supporting the wider team to deliver a refreshed communications strategy aligned with REI’s growth.
The role suits someone who enjoys translating complex ideas into accessible content, understands social media strategy and algorithms, and values well-designed email journeys and communications systems. You’ll work across platforms including Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, newsletters, and the REI website, while liaising with writers, designers, students, and freelancers.
The position offers a pro rata salary of £25,360–£27,144 (4 days), strong benefits, flexible remote working, and a supportive learning-focused culture. The contract is fixed-term with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent.
APPLICATION FORM
Applications close 25 January (23:59 UTC). Candidates must apply via the application form and submit work samples. Rethinking Economics strongly encourages applications from working-class and global majority candidates and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
