Jobs With Justice is a coalition-based network that includes labor unions, worker centers, community organizations, faith-based groups, and student organizations. JWJ’s mission is to reduce inequality and empower workers by combining research, policy advocacy, communications strategies, grassroots mobilization, and coalition building. The national staff provides strategic support to nearly 30 autonomous local coalitions, helping them execute campaigns that strengthen workers’ voices and influence public discourse.

Position Overview
- Position Type: Full Time
- Salary: At least $70,000/year, starting in the mid-$70,000s depending on experience
- Location: Remote, preference for candidates in the Washington, D.C., metro area
- Travel: Approximately 5 days per month, more during peak campaign activity
As an Organizer, you will lead, develop, and execute campaigns that increase worker organizing and bargaining power. You will mobilize internal teams, local coalitions, national partners, and allies to achieve campaign goals while supporting the broader network of JWJ staff and affiliates.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign Leadership and Innovation
- Develop and execute campaign plans that achieve measurable victories for workers.
- Test and implement emerging strategies to strengthen campaigns.
- Build community support for workplace actions and hold employers accountable.
Coalition Support and Network Development
- Assist local coalitions in strategic planning and campaign execution.
- Mentor and build leadership skills among local organizers and coalition members.
- Support the formation of new JWJ coalitions based on campaign needs.
Training and Development
- Participate in nationwide trainings for JWJ coalitions and partners.
- Share knowledge and best practices to build capacity across the network.
Resource and Communications Management
- Help cultivate financial and in-kind support for campaigns.
- Document and communicate campaign activities, outcomes, and insights.
- Coordinate multi-stakeholder teams to execute campaign strategies effectively.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Three or more years of organizing experience, preferably focused on worker-related campaigns.
- Experience with creative direct action and advocacy campaigns.
- Strong coaching skills to support local leaders and coalition partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, handle conflict, and facilitate group discussions.
- Commitment to racial and social justice principles.
- Ability to travel as needed for campaign activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with JWJ local coalitions or partners.
- Labor movement experience.
- Multi-lingual fluency.
- Experience leveraging issue campaigns (e.g., wage theft, policy advocacy) to drive mobilization.
