As the Benefits + Data Efficiency Fellow, you will spearhead a groundbreaking research project focused on enhancing privacy-protected data sharing and matching to improve the accuracy and integrity of essential public benefits programs like SNAP, WIC, and Medicaid/CHIP. This 12-month fellowship presents an exciting opportunity to influence policies and practices at the federal and state levels, working alongside a dynamic team of experts to foster equitable social change through innovative data-driven solutions.
Job Overview:
The Benefits + Data Efficiency Fellow will lead a research initiative aimed at advancing the efficiency and effectiveness of U.S. public benefits programs. You will analyze existing data sets, policies, and initiatives at federal and state levels, identify barriers and opportunities, and produce original research with actionable recommendations. As a Fellow, you will collaborate with government agencies, non-profits, and stakeholders to drive change and advocate for data sharing practices that enhance the integrity of benefits delivery.
You will also mentor Georgetown students and provide subject matter expertise, while contributing to Beeck Center educational activities, workshops, and events. The role requires strong research and leadership skills, as well as a commitment to social impact and advancing data-driven innovations in public policy.
Responsibilities:
- Research, Publishing, and Advocacy (80%)
- Lead research and analysis on improving data sharing and matching for public benefits programs.
- Produce original research on current practices and identify challenges and opportunities for data sharing.
- Cultivate relationships with stakeholders to identify best practices for benefits delivery.
- Publish actionable insights and advocate for government policy changes to enhance benefits accuracy.
- Represent the Beeck Center at external conferences and meetings on public benefits data topics.
- Supervision and Mentorship (20%)
- Mentor and supervise Georgetown students, ensuring quality work and professional development.
- Contribute to educational activities, presentations, and workshops.
- Attend Center-wide gatherings and in-person events to foster collaboration.
Qualifications:
- At least 15 years of experience in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Data Science, or related fields.
- Proven experience in policy analysis, research, and advocacy with a focus on benefits administration and data.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience navigating government and nonprofit sectors.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing social impact through data-driven innovation.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: $130,000–$170,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
