JASS Regional Director for Mesoamerica: $87,150 Salary | Apply by September 30, 2026

Just Associates (JASS) is inviting applications for the position of Regional Director for Mesoamerica, a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in feminist movement building, social justice, organisational leadership, and political strategy. The successful candidate will provide strategic and organisational leadership across JASS programmes in Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.

The position offers a starting salary of $87,150 per year, together with a range of benefits. Applications are open until September 30, 2026.

About the Regional Director Role

The Regional Director for Mesoamerica will play a central role in strengthening JASS’ regional strategy, programmes, partnerships, and organisational effectiveness.

The role combines political leadership with organisational management. The successful candidate will help shape regional movement-building strategies while ensuring that people, programmes, resources, and organisational functions work together effectively.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Regional Director will work closely with the Mesoamerican team based in Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. The position also forms part of the organisation’s senior leadership team, contributing to wider strategic decisions and helping connect regional priorities with JASS’ global direction.

Key Responsibilities

The Regional Director will lead political analysis of the Mesoamerican context, identifying emerging opportunities, risks, and strategic priorities relevant to feminist movement building.

The role will also involve designing and evaluating movement-building strategies, overseeing regional programmes, and developing relationships with movement partners, academics, policy actors, and other stakeholders.

Another important responsibility will be leading and supporting the regional team. The successful candidate will foster a collaborative and values-driven workplace while encouraging distributed leadership, accountability, learning, and effective decision-making.

The Regional Director will also provide strategic oversight of planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning, financial planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and organisational systems.

Resource mobilisation will form part of the role, including positioning JASS for strategic funding opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with donors and funding partners.

At the organisational level, the successful candidate will serve on JASS’ Joint Leadership Team and contribute regional political analysis and movement perspectives to organisation-wide strategy.

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity has specific eligibility requirements. Candidates must be from and currently located in Mesoamerica and should have a strong understanding of the region’s social justice, feminist, and movement-building landscape.

Professional fluency in both Spanish and English is required.

Applicants should demonstrate experience in political strategy, movement building, organisational management, and team leadership. A collaborative and facilitative leadership approach is particularly important, as JASS is looking for someone who can work alongside teams rather than simply delegate responsibilities.

At least seven years of senior leadership experience in social justice organisations is highly preferred, particularly experience within women’s rights or feminist organisations.

Additional experience in feminist popular education, resource mobilisation, monitoring and evaluation, financial planning, budgeting, operations, and human resources will be an advantage.

Candidates should also be comfortable working across local, national, regional, and global contexts and engaging with diverse groups, including Indigenous and rural women, movements, NGOs, donors, and officials.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary for the Director-level Grade E position is $87,150 per year, calculated as total cost to company. JASS follows an equitable compensation approach and aims to provide the same salary regardless of location.

Benefits include employer-paid health insurance, generous vacation leave, national holidays, and health leave.

The initial employment offer is for one year and includes a six-month probation period. However, the organisation intends for the appointment to be renewed and potentially progress into a longer-term or permanent position.

How to Apply

Applicants must complete the online application and submit a full curriculum vitae detailing the scope and responsibilities of previous roles.

Candidates must also provide a cover letter explaining their relevant skills and experience. The cover letter should include two paragraphs explaining why the applicant is a strong fit for JASS and what they would contribute to the organisation.

Applicants must provide the names and contact details of three references, including at least one current or previous supervisor. Candidates must also state whether and how they used AI when preparing their application materials.

The application deadline is September 30, 2026.
