
Are you passionate about civil rights and social justice? The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is seeking a highly motivated research intern to join their Intelligence Project team. As a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing racial justice, the SPLC works tirelessly to dismantle white supremacy and advance human rights. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the SPLC’s mission while developing key research skills and gaining hands-on experience in the field of social justice.
As an intern with the Intelligence Project, you’ll focus on researching, analyzing, and writing to counter white supremacy and political violence. This is an ideal opportunity for students and individuals committed to social justice, equity, and anti-racist work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Intelligence Project Research team to conduct research, write memos, fact sheets, and analyze data.
- Monitor news sources and secondary reporting for relevant events and trends.
- Identify and gather useful resources to support research projects.
- Contribute to ensuring that the voices of underserved communities are uplifted through policy research.
- Assist in supporting ongoing policy research efforts related to combating hate and extremism.
What We’re Looking For:
- Passionate about advancing civil rights and social justice.
- Driven with a strong interest in research and analysis of socio-political movements.
- Data-driven with the ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data, especially from open-source intelligence.
- A commitment to the SPLC’s mission, vision, and core values of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year college or university.
- Demonstrated research skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Paid internship at $17.50 per hour, for 40 hours per week.
- Supervisor-approved overtime may be available.
- Flexible remote work with occasional daytime meetings.
Additional Information:
- The internship will begin on June 3, 2025, and requires a minimum commitment of 10 consecutive weeks, with 40 hours per week.
