UNDP Announces Internship Programme in Inclusive Growth Across Africa

Overview of the Inclusive Growth Internship Opportunity

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications for its Intern – Inclusive Growth Programme, offering three internship positions within its Regional Bureau for Africa. The roles include two international remote internships and one local in-person placement, all focused on supporting UNDP’s work on inclusive economic transformation across the African continent.

These internships are part of UNDP’s broader effort to strengthen sustainable development, regional integration, and equitable economic growth through evidence-based policy support and innovation.

UNDP’s Development Vision and Regional Context

UNDP operates in approximately 170 countries and territories, working to reduce poverty, inequality, and exclusion while advancing sustainable human development. Its 2026–2029 Strategic Plan focuses on four key development priorities:

  • Prosperity for All
  • Effective Governance
  • Crisis Resilience
  • Healthy Planet

These priorities are supported by three key accelerators: digital and AI transformation, gender equality, and sustainable finance. The plan emphasizes systems-based development solutions aligned with national priorities and global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063.

Within Africa, UNDP’s Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA), based in Addis Ababa, coordinates policy advisory services, technical support, and regional programmes across 46 country offices. It also works closely with the African Union (AU) and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to support continental development priorities.

Focus Area: Inclusive Growth and Economic Transformation

The internship is hosted under the Inclusive Growth and Extractives Team (IGET), which contributes to Africa’s broader economic transformation agenda. The team focuses on promoting inclusive and sustainable development through:
