Internships and Sponsored Legal Fellowships – Partners in Justice International (PJI)-Apply before 15 May 2026

Partners in Justice International is a woman-led organization founded in 2020 that supports victims and survivors of grave crimes—such as crimes against humanity, war crimes, conflict-related sexual violence, and genocide—by strengthening local justice systems and building sustainable networks of legal practitioners.

Position Overview

PJI offers two types of early-career opportunities:

  1. Fellowships – 1–2 years for law school graduates or final-year law students (JD, LLM, LLB). Fellows work as junior staff attorneys, gaining hands-on experience in strategic litigation, research, and support for local justice actors.
  2. Internships – Summer positions for second- or third-year law students, LLM students, or LLB graduates, focused on research and writing in support of PJI’s mission. Exceptional candidates not fully meeting the criteria may still be considered.

All positions are remote, with team members expected to be available for meetings between 11:00 and 17:00 UK time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on international human rights and criminal law.
  • Support local justice actors in post-conflict or post-dictatorship jurisdictions.
  • Assist in strategic litigation projects, including case preparation and documentation.
  • Develop collaborative networks among prosecutors, victim representatives, and investigators.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives for long-term justice impact.

Candidate Profile

Fellowships:

  • Law graduates (LLB or equivalent) or final-year JD/LLM students.
  • Interest in international human rights law or international criminal law.
  • Judicial clerks or candidates with equivalent professional legal experience.

Internships:

  • Second or third-year JD students, LLM students, or LLB graduates.
  • Demonstrated research and writing skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Commitment to PJI’s values of respect, long-term engagement, and principled support.

Funding and Support

  • PJI does not provide independent funding for fellows or interns.
  • Selected candidates are expected to secure external funding (e.g., grants from educational institutions).
  • PJI supports applicants in developing funding proposals and project plans.
